on a 400ex, which wire does the tach wire go to, I tried either side of the coil but neither works.

what kinda tach? on those tiny tach things the wire just wraps around the sparkplug wire....my friend has one on his crf

It should go on the negative side of the coil, I believe...

no that didnt work, I finally got it to work but I put it on one of the pulse generator wires, its not right though, its only made for a 2-10 cylinder, so wide open its only at like 3000 rpms

the closest I can get it is 2 cylinders, so everything is cut in half

Let us know if you get the right tach and get it wired and mounted right and post some pics and where you got the stuff to do it all...I would be interested in putting a tach on my 400

It works, but the reading isnt right, like instead of saying 6000 it says 3000, im just gonna trash it if it doesnt work right.

maybe u could just change the face of the tach, just cut all the numbers in half. But wtf do u need a tach in a quad anyway. U should be lookin at the track or trail, not a tach that doesnt even read right.
