which do you think is fastest, a new 450R, a slightly modded 250R, new raptor, 440ex w/everything. a YFZ450, new Predator, or a stock Banshee?thanks

WOW what a shock. Not one of the Yamaha's has been selected. No partial people here HUH?

the 440 is the only one with "everything" thats why i picked it.
if anyone of those quads had "everything" it would be fastest...
the poll is kinda uneven...

the yfz450 with out a doubt. in dirt wheeles they did a test with a yfz450, predator and a z400 w/ a 440 kit and exhuast and new cams. the yfz450 and the z440 destroyed the predator in a drag race by about 50 feet. in another issue they said that the yfz450 will walk away from modified 450r's.

I love honda, but am not ashamed at all to say that someone else has something faster. The yfz will definitely win that drag. A 440ex still wont win even with "everything" I've ridden everything on that list except for a yfz, but I know they are supposed to be a little faster than the 450R which I have ridden. ALso a yfz will not "walk away" from a modded 450R. It will lose. Those two quads are very similar so if one is modded and the other isn't then the modded one will win.

A 440 ex w/ everything won't even run with a slightly modded z400.

That's quite an exaggeration, cause my opened up 400ex will run right with my buddies opened up Z. I pull on him till about 4th then he goes blowing by me, but in MX, he doesn't stand a chance. Granted I am the better rider of the two, but there is no way a stock Z will run with a 440ex!

That all depends who is riding it a 100 pound guy or a 200 pound guy and what kind of rider they are.........

The 440ex with every thing in a full out drag on pavement and the right gearing will beat all those bikes...... at least my 440ex would.

no no, "everything" leaves it too open. you could be running a turbo with nitrous or something on the 440...

dont tell me a turbo 440 with NO2 wouldnt kill anything in a drag...

I've seen 440EX's pushing 50hp and that's not with alky, nos or turbo. None of those stock quads could compete with that.

Ya, I was gonna say, that guy must be on some kind of really messed up drugs:eek2: . Believe me buddy, a 416 will smoke a modded Z. Heck, my 330 is supposed to be able to keep up with a stock Z

My 416ex, cam, porting, carb, valve work, exhaust, k&n will make a yfz look pretty stupid in a drag race without a problem... I know for a fact a well done 440 will beet basically all of the 450 models in stock from.

wow... i wanna slap the editor or who said that, just dumb. They are pretty much the same quad, and no yfz will "walk" away from a modded R. Thats just a joke.

My friend had a COMPLETELY aftermarket 440ex and hes a better rider than me and I beat him repetedly with my modded but stock bore z400! And thats the facts. Also, Ive easily beaten stock yzf's and 450's.Thats no B.S.!

Not all 440's are the same, in fact not even close. I've personally seen stock 400EX's run with poorly built/tuned 440EX's. Bore doesn't play as much as a factor in terms of drag racing as compression, cam, flow(port, polishing, carb, exhaust, etc) and traction. IMO you need to have good port and polish work done on a 440EX to see the bennefits, the Z's head flows better stock.

Dont believe everything dirtwheels says, they are very biased. If Yamaha gave you money to support the YFZ, would you?

250R would be the fastest, but it depends what you classify as slightly modded.

Whether the 400ex is done up to the max or not, its still a 400ex, and its motor is from an XR. Why start with something thats already behind the competition?

Well my friends 440 was built by jrd who is about the best around. BUT, he does have the stock carb on which is holding him back but so do I and the 400ex carb is definitly better than the z carb.

its not true... my 450r with only HRC end cap smokes my buddy on his stock YFZ, everytime.... he's also a lighter by about 15 pounds... YFZ's arent what the hype holds them up to. I was really surprised when I raced my buddies YFZ because I always thought they were faster.....

ok, can imake the slightly modded R combo?

stock jug port job, pipe and carb. with these 3 things the R can beat any bike mentioned!!!!!

dont forget the R is still king! now the difference between a R slightly modded and a shee is that it cost twice as much to do the same mods to a banshee, so i feel this is a slightly moded R.

A 440, built the right way, will beat any of those quads. I know, I have one, and I race them every weekend. But the YFZ can be built to beat a 440. And we all know a Shee can be built too.

The fun thing about building a EX, is that everyone thinks you have the slowest quad - at least untill the race is over!

I think Duncan makes a good 440 kit. They have various compression pistons and a decent carb to go with it. They also carry a very good oil tank/cooler. But you have to go out and find other components as well. Web is extremely knowlegable in regard to the other components for the EX. I went with them on the cam, shortened valve guides, hardended rocker arms. Duncan can also do the boring, but I chose someone I trust on the boring - if its off center just a little - you just asking for trouble - he does it himself and is quite good. He also put the whole thing together with the parts I spec'd out. Thats the way I did it, and it worked out well. But I also did a lot of research before I did it. I am still researching my next stage, which is a stroker. I'm not done yet, but I think I should have a good handle on it in a few months - just in time for the summer riding season.

I said a 440 with everything just because everything could mean anything...like someone said, turbocharged with NOS...I don't think a stock 450R would be touching that:o .

This combo is the only combo that would be close to beating a good built 440ex. A 440ex WILL beat a stock banshee, 250r, 450r, and yes a stock 450YFZ. I have beat all those bikes even with pipes......but if you do a little bit of extra work to them bikes I just said they could beat a 440ex. If you do what Beerock said to the 250r it would be just a little bit slower than a 450r with a HRCkit and pipe but to me the 250r is the KING no matter what. Thats just my $.02:D

who is the idiot who voted for the raptor....my buddy got a new raptor when i got my 400..and the only thing mine had done was a removed baffle.......his was completely stock and his wasn't out-runnin me by all that much........granted i weigh 40 pounds less than he does....but still

o yea i forgot...........i'd say the 440 would give the yfz a run for its money and more than likely take it.bu that is just cuz i am a die-hard Honda boy:D

Yeah for sure! Think about putting that same amount of money into an R as you would a 440ex(MX ready), and damn nothing would touch it.

I have a 440ex with the stock ports, carb, and valves and I can take every stock quad there in a drag up sand mountain. oh and for the guy that said a modded 440ex couldnt take a slightly modded z your a dip****. when my 400ex had just a pipe and a filter I could take z's. My modded 350x also takes z's.
