single, double, or triple rate rear shock

Which would be better for motocross racing on my 250r. And what are the pros and cons of each.

The more progressive the rate the better. a single rate is good for one thing, you can set it up to take the big stuff or small stuff. the dual rate is the way to go. there are only a few shocks long enough to do a triple rate in the rear ( DS 650)

I had a dual rate on my r rear, worked great! I have a triple rate now, but its a no link, I like it too, seems to be better (imo).

I think the single, dual, triple rate in the rear would be about the same as the front shocks, more travel, more adjustability....

With linkage you don't need multi rate springs. The linkage will add the correct proggression if it's right.

Stock 250r linkage isn't very good, I have an Elka dual rate and the back end still jumps around on me. Thats why people run a no-link set up. It does away with stock linkage and it allows for a longer shock, thats the only way to have a triple rate on the back with a 250r. The only other thing you can do is to have a custom linkage built for your bike, thats what I thought about doing.
