If I were to buy an IMS fuel tank would I have to buy a longer steering stem? Also I got a long list of Elka front shocks, but I don't know whick ones would be best for XC racing? Thanks Ryan

I would say yes +1 or a +2 go with axis they are worth the exact money.

our stock stem is rubbing a groove in our IMS tank so I would go with the +1 stem and as for shocks if you are racing xc I would go with compression adj for sure and if you are used to adjusting rebound on the front shocks then maybe get the fully adj triple rate, other wise elka does a good job setting the rebound. I guess it all depends how much you want to spend and how much adjusting you want to do :)

I used a die grinder to trim the stock stem where it hits the tank, just make sure you don't leave any sharp edges that might bite you if happen to have your hands down in that area.

Whats the advantage to a longer steering stem?

Will clear the tanks or put the bars in a taller position.
