I am installing a hotcam stg1,(no piston) how do i break in the cam or do i need to. Can i just install and ride or do i actually need to break in the cam, thanks? And can you use synthetic oil
(mobil 1-red cap) after install, because i will be changing oil at same time?

Just dont' let the quad idle after startup. I just broke in my motor after a rebuild and I ran it at different RPM's for about 10 minutes..

Since you are in arizona I guess you could still ride your bike around unlike here in OH where I cant even get out of my driveway!! There is honestly 15-18 inches of snow, ice and everything else piled up around here. Anyway, just take it on a light ride around shifting through all the gears and not revving it real high for very long. Just vary the RPMs and shift through all the gears for about a 1/2 hour and you will be fine. Remember to change your oil shortly after so you get any small shavings out that may result from everything seating properly...

sticky assembly lube (red) works well for new cam and piston installations because it allows the cam to stay lubicated initial startup when the oil hasn't begun to flow.

And dont use synthetic oil for break in. after break in, then you can switch.

I used to believe that also but you can break it in with synthetic but you have to break it in hard, no babying it. Mine actually has sythetic in it right now, I haven't started it up since I rebuilt it and I plan on breakin it in that way. Once I get the rest of it put together I'll be takin it out for a spin and won't be real easy on it... When the snow melts..

I know of a person that will take a freshly rebuilt motor with synthetic oil straight to the dyno and run the piss out of it.... and the motors run just fine and last long..:macho
