hand guards for a 400ex

im wantin to get some hand guards but im wondering whats the best kind. also how much are they and how exactly do they go on? are they all just universal or are they custom fit?

I noticed that alot of guys in GNCCs run Accerbics (sp) and they seem to hold up pretty good.

Powermadds;) Im gonna pick myself up a set pretty soon:)

i had some bark busters but idk they got in the way too much...you might not end up liking them..i got them in a giveaway at a race once...guy walks up "this your quad?" yeah "here you go"

I run Powermadds in the winter to keep my hands warmer, I used to run them in the summer also, but I found them to get in the way when racing mx. Other than that they are a great guard. Here is an old pic with them on.

I like the Cycra stealth gaurds, they look awesome IMO and can be used on 7/8 and 1 1/8 bars.

Acerbis. i love them. i love the fast that they connect to your bars too unlike other hand guards.

i got some UFO Plastics hanguards for christmas...but the SOB's didn't fit...........but my friend has a set on his 400 and the look awesome.........i still can't figure out why mine wouldn't fit though:confused:

Just got a set of power madds for Christmas and put them on. They work great and are easy to adjust to where you want them on your bars.

let me make myself feel like a dumbass.........,my UFO's did fit, u just don't use all the parts....i found all this out after looking at my friend's bike.....they require a lil tweakin to fi on stock bars like mine and his.......but should fit awesome on aftermarket bars...either way it shouldn't take anymore than 20 minutes to mount. u can get the regular brush guards for around 50 and the ones with aluminum inserts are around 60 or 70 i think

i got mine through one of my local Honda dealers. they had them in stock, but ur local shop may have to order them depending on how much stuff they keep on the shelf.

put my new UFO handguards on yesterday....they look awesome and work just as well as they look....i highly recomend these handguards
they really look great on 400's......they aren't great big and have 2 holes in them(i guess to look like Alian etes since they are UFO's) they really match the rest of the body on mine....i got black ones iand my 4-wheeler is yellow but it mixes in with the rest of the color scheme on the bike

Another bonus is they have removable vents too. So if its hot in the summer you can take the vent covers off and keep your hands cooler.

heres acerbis rally pros that i use to have... they are awesome for XC but suck for mx... to easy to trap your wrist and break it if u case a jump... i know i did...

I've been using UFO handgurds for a lil while now, and they seem to hold up real good... The only thing I dont care for is the way they mount, and if u go over the bars its going to be hard on the wrist.. so Just hope you dont case a jump.. I gave around 40 bucks for mine?? But it seems to be money well spent as of now. Heres a pic, it's the only one I have with the hand gurds on it. So it will have to do for now...
