Sounds like a fun project. I'm doing the same thing. I'd say set it up for MX if you have a track reletively close to you. Nothing looks better than a 250r properly set up for MX IMO.

Option 1: You could just take that money, and invest it into your XC quad and MX quad you already have, totally pimp them out.

Option 2: But if you want to build another one, i'd go with a flattrack TT quad. I'd do it up with the usual, flat track tires, elka flat track suspension, sway bars, the usual good stuff! And what color are you're other 2 quads? If they're the same, i'd stick with the same combo! Like a race team! But if they're different, i'd do something completely different from the other 2. I really like the look of white plastics with a trans blue frame, but thats just my opinion. It'd be something else you could race if you wanted to, and it would basically complete the collection of race quads! :macho

well i should have been more specific,i sold my XC quad(300ex) and now have a MX 4??ex that im almost done with,so i think imma do somewhat of the same color scheme from that

set it up for mx but not so much where its not rideable in other places. id do a +2 front end with some good rezzy shocks and a somewhat good rear end, nice tires and rims, nice flowing plastics i love red on r's. good fat bar setup with nice controls, just things to make it look and ride really nice and comfortable. also try to keep the motor reliable cause thats something i look for in a quad. you know what parts are good i can tell so its your decision. just a tip, look around for used stuff because there are parts out there barely used for really good prices.

yea that is why im into the market for a 250r now, everything went down so cheap on them

You should set it up for XC...B/C you dont see very many 250r's that are XC set up....I feelin kawi Orange frame W/ Black Platsic
PEP Shocks all around w/ HoleShot HD's On Douglas Billet Beadlocks....And Of Course Balgard A arms and Swingarm

JDiablo

well idk it is either going to be a trans red frame,?? color plastics
or a green quad....i think ill let pappy handle this one...don't see to much of it

Ya, make it XC! Like i said, i still like white plastics, with a trans blue frame, like pappy's old 400 was. But ya, i'd go with the same combo as your 400! You got red fullbores right? I thought i read the thread on whether to put the carbon fiber hood on over the fullbores, or not you posted. That was you right? So i'd do it in red fullbores too, and whatever color frame you have.

you can save a chitload peicing it together w/ used parts, but some depending on what you want..some are still $pendy..

It's ummm going. lol

I finished gusseting my frame yesterday, I primed and painted it today, and it's getting clear coated tomorow. I would have powdercoated it but you can't argue with free, and I like being able to do the work myself. I got my motor a while ago, I'm in the proces of polishing it. I got LSR +2 a arms and works pro seiries shocks last wednesday. And I'm looking for a junker to use little parts of like gas tank plastic and motor mounts etc.

A word of advice find a crappy 250r that is all together and go from there.

Ok johnny boy:

Mx or bust

A nice trans red frame like your 400ex or a Trans green, Chrome stem/top a-arms, subframe (if u have one), Tag bars, Fullbore plastic with Quadtech hood, Legacy or skin graphics. And me and you think pretty much alike on what kind of suspension and chassie work we like to do.

sell all of them and if your into building unique stuff do a crf 450 hybrid or ktm 520...or do what most people are... build a yfz or 450r then buy a stock 400ex with shocks, a exhaust and cam and a tank and use it for xc

Make it into a dirt dragger. Lowered, 10 feet long, nos, alchohol, give it the works.

I think you should make a play/xc bike. +1 a-arms, rezzy shocks. No need to go too crazy on it. Just make it a fun bike to mess around on and fly through the trails.

I like the idea of the green. Maybe a cool green frame and white plastic (that doesnt show scratches). Just build a cool quad to beat around on.

i luv /R's and wil never sell mine
they are still the baddest

say you put a new piston and the works in on a 250R. how long until you have to rebuild (like how many hours of riding)

Big400EX

Find all the original parts and plastic to the 250R and put them on, then it would be pretty trick, otherwise even though you might have most of the 250R components on, and different plastic it probably wouldn't feel to 250R'ish. But thats my opinion, of course.

Do what you want, good luck, it's going to cost you mad money, be prepared.
