funny smell

When I was riding out in the dunes this weekend I kept smelling something that almost smelled like racing fuel, and the people that I was with said that they could smell it to when ever I would get in front of them, I wasn't running race fuel, does anybody have any idea what could be making by bike emit this smell. And yes it was coming from the bike not the guy riding it!!!

is your exhaust new. sometimes exhausts can burn the new coating off.

You must have something on your pipe, motor, slip-on. or something that heating up and burning/melting something while u ride, maybe thats where the smell is coming from. Check over the bike, you would be suprized what you find stuck to it sometimes lol :blah:

i dont think this is the culptrit, but sometimes your pants or something can burn onto the pipe...

i think your problem would be more like bad gas or something like that... maybe burning oil like someone mentioned... OR maybe your running really lean or really rich... could be a number of things i guess

maybe its the oil you used on the air cleaner

checked your brakes lately? could be silicate brake pads rubbing at high speeds or the caliper itself if the pads are low enough....

Is it when you had a lot of WOT or steep hill climbing ? i noticed after i climbed this huge *** hill about 10 times that my bike started having a funny smell....I think i might have gotten it a lil hot. Not sure if it makes a smell when you get it to hot or not though :confused:

you probably need to repack your silencer.
