port/polish (if you can do it yourself)
underdrive pulleys
thinner head gasket (not really cheap but kind of)
kn air filter
you can get some cheap $100 summit headers to open it up
rifled carb spacer

hmmm what are u lookin to spend?

throw a flowmaster 40 series muffler on it

beefier air filter OR if its TBI goto autozone and buy the cheapy air intake tube and cone fliter they got for those rice burners..they work just fine on a small block...

swap the camshaft ($200 at the most and would be the best thing u could do)

maybe some jetting and messing with the carb then timing and it should run a little better all depending on what you can adjust and what you cant

What kind of carb is on it? Does it have points or HEI? Specify what intake is on it and what diameter the header primaries are. Also, what is your altitude?:ermm:

It's not really an adjustment but you could run 1.6 rockers. It's easy to do from the top side of the motor and you can get a complete set of roller tip arms for a little over $100/set. You'll pick up a little power and gain reliability. The factory units from GM are garbage.

Make sure it is timed well. If the timing is off you will be losing power.
