Robert Furgeson was the one who got clotheslined....

I loved the look on Favre's face when the ref walked right into that ball.....it was priceless!

one of my friends is; and i feel confident saying this; he is the most die-hard packers fan in PA. he didnt grow up around this area so i let it slide that the STEELERS aren't his #1 team.

Anyway, that was the cheapest, dirtiest hit on a player i ever saw. If Darius he has any previous history of cheap shots, i think a multiple game suspension w/o pay is in order.

Also, Favre looked better on that last touchdown drive than he has in the last 2-3 years. Look for the Packers to win the NFC if T.O. is not at full strength for the playoffs.

LOL! I know who your talkin about...

and I agree, that SOB needs more than just the ejection he got. That was an intentional cheap shot IMO.

Last time we had a packers vs. vikings thread we had quite the little competetion going. Too bad we won. HAHA.

I'm sure we are gonna have another good thread like the last meeting.

I was really mad when that ref just stood there. You could hear the crowd going crazy.

I can't believe that the dumbass from the Jags actually thought that he could get away with that BS hit.. what a little girl he is for having to closeline someone to tackle him.. i guess he told someone in an interview that he was going for the ball..BBSSS!!!

I was so pissed.. not only cuz he took a major cheep shot at him, but the fact that some of the Jaguars were celebrating and the head coach was laughing, made me soo pissed!!! Stuff like that is totally uncalled for... Robert Fergusen now has a sprained neck and probably won't play the rest of the year.. he is an awesome reciever..

And by the way, HE DIDN'T HAVE A SEIZURE!!! where did you get that?? its called muscle spasms when you are knocked unconcious and have no feeling in yur legs... Been there!!!

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- Green Bay Packers wide receiver Robert Ferguson will stay in the hospital at least one more night as he recovers from the vicious clothesline hit by Jacksonville safety Donovin Darius.

Ferguson suffered a concussion and was temporarily paralyzed below the waist when he was hit Sunday. He regained feeling and movement on his way to Bellin Hospital, where he was kept overnight.

Coach Mike Sherman said Monday that Ferguson had weakness in his arms but was in good spirits when he visited him Sunday night. He didn't know if Ferguson was up and walking around Monday.

AFC spokesman Steve Alic said the league would look at the hit -- the NFL reviews every play of every game anyway -- and that any fine, if appropriate would likely come down Friday. A suspension could be handed out at any time.

Darius swept in after Ferguson's leaping 31-yard grab of Brett Favre's pass at midfield. Darius hit the defenseless Ferguson across the neck, stunning the crowd and infuriating the Packers with 4:41 left in their 28-25 loss to the Jaguars.

Darius, who was ejected, defended his hit as non-intentional and said he was trying to jar the ball loose.

Ferguson gave a thumbs-up as he left the field on a stretcher.

"He's a great kid," Sherman said. "For him to put a thumbs-up to the crowd on his way off the field knowing that he couldn't move his toes ... special guy."

Week 15: Review | Judgements
The Jaguars-Packers game was one of those December games that makes us love the NFL.

It had the weather element, a sub-zero wind-chill that was magnified by the fact the visitors were from Florida. It had two teams in the thick of the playoff race. Plus, we had Brett Favre playing in the frigid conditions, which has meant a Green Bay victory in all but one game. Make it two now.

The Jaguars went into Lambeau Field and beat the Packers 28-25 in a hard-fought contest that was clearly the game of the day.

But the game might be remembered far more for one nasty play than the final score, or even what it means in the playoff race.

That's because the play was cheap and dangerous.

They call Jaguars safety Donovin Darius "Double D". The D has to stand for dirty, doesn't it?

The clothesline hit Darius put on Green Bay receiver Robert Ferguson in the fourth quarter was as filthy a play as I've seen in a long time. Darius is known for his physical play, and he can hit with the best of them. But his overzealous play has even infuriated his own teammates.

It became common among Jaguars players to keep an eye out for Darius around piles, even though they were on the same team. Former defensive end Tony Brackens once pushed Darius to the ground after he dove onto his legs late on a play.

On Sunday, Jaguars defensive tackle Marcus Stroud could be seen yelling at Darius after his wicked hit on Ferguson that sent the receiver's helmet flying and knocked him out of the game with a concussion. Ferguson's legs quivered at one point as he was on the ground, and he lost movement in them before finally regaining the feeling later in the hospital.

Ferguson should be fine. It could have been a lot worse, like paralysis or even death.

It was that ugly a play.

Has anyone seen the video clip posted on the web? I only got to see the highlights  My local affiliate decided to show the 4-9 Titans vs the 2-11 Raiders instead

The packers have serious defensive problems this year. I really don't think they can go into Philly and win, even without TO. There best bet is to get a home game opening weekend and win, go on the road to ATL and get a win, then Philly get upset at home and the Packers get to play the championship game at home :D

im a huge packers fan, and trust me they will pull together to kick the vikings *** on friday. I also just wanted to let you know that Darius was fined 75,000 for the hit on Fergueson. Damn, 75000 is a big fine!:eek2:

i'm with ya foxracingpred, i am a huge fan also!!! i was watching the news tonite and they said that about hte $75k fine and i was shocked to hear that , but i think that it is well deserved... but in all reality, i does no justice to what had taken place on sunday...

In an interview, Favre told the reporters that though Fergie is on his way to a recovery physically, he said that who knows what the mental affects will be.. this is the truth!!

I have had a few bad head/neck injuries in the last couple years ( wrecked a quad on the road doing 60 mph, and fell down an embankment, ripping 3 nerves out of my neck, and not being able to move my right arm for 7 months) , to know that , there will be a long recovery time, and that he will probably not play this year yet... My prayers are with him for a full recovery!! its sad to still see guys trying to perminantly hurt others on the playing field, but it happens i guess!!

its pretty cool to be on the biggest site for atving on the web and see all the guys from wisconsin....

the packers can beat who/when anybody they want....it just depends on the play calling....sometimes they suck offensive/defensive......get a decent play caller they will go all the way (depending on aman green's ball handling capabilities)

no way.... the amount of money they make, $75k is pocket change! IMO he should be out for the rest of the season! He could have killed that guy and it was no accident!

I never would have thought a Packers thread would get to 3 or more pages, but we are the best fans of the world. I was fortunate to go to my first Packer game ever when the Vikings played in GB earlier this year and it was unforgetable. What iceracer65 says is so true. We (any Packer fan says "we") can beat anybody on any given day is everything goes well, then again that's true with any team. Who would have thought when that young QB from Mississippi ran out on the field many years ago he'd be the legend he is now, Favre indeed is very talented and will be talked about in the football world forever.

As for Christmas Eve, 1 thing is for sure. The entire states of WI and MN will put there early Christmas celebrations on hold as whole households sit around the TV and watch the game. It's a HUGE game and I have confidence the Pack can pull it out.

I saw this on the net:

"""Darius, whose annual salary is more than $4 million a season, was ejected from the game by referee Ed Hochuli.""""

I agree with Eric. $75, 000 fine. Thats chump change compared to what this guy makes. That fine is roughly 1/50th of what this guy makes.

You wrote in the quote!

Anyway Brady did lose the game for you guys. But for some reason the phins always play well against the pats. Brady had only 7 completions in there first game this season.

About the fine that Darius recieved, he should have been thrown out the rest of the season without pay. It was a cheap shot, and it enraged me. They fine $5,000 for not wearing the right socks!!!
Oh and about how these guys get paid, they recieve a check bi-weekly. My good friend worked at a bank and used to deal with some NFL Players. These fackers make anywhere from $60,000 - $100,000 BI-Weekly!! So het got fined roughly one paycheck.

12-22-2004, 07:49 AM
And if Daruis makes 4 mil a year it is not even one paycheck.
