no the frames are completely different, you will have to do some major modifications to it to get it to fit right, it will just be cheaper to just buy a new 400ex.

I think it mght..... Ive already bought a new lonestar subframe and everything lined up fine... With the exception of the brake light sending unit, but im not worried about that.

Here's a pic of the only two brackets that must be added to the frame to hold the new plastic & upper headlight mount brackets. You'll also have to drill two holes to allow the lower light bracket to attach to the frame. Both frames are pretty much identical.http://predator.bikepics.com/pics/honda-400ex-05-bikepics-260562.jpg Now here's a pic of your frame in the same area:http://predator.bikepics.com/pics/honda-400ex-02-bikepics-260563.jpg you will need to get : Both fenders, headlight assem, hood, and brackets for light and crossing bracket for fenders.

The light housing itself is but all the mounting hardware is different. I'm not sure about the hood, I should know within a couple days though.

Yeah...you guys on on the right track. There are a few mods needed to convert your old 400EX to look look like the 2005 TRX 400. I just completed this conversion. I work at a local Honda dealership and get my parts pretty cheap! On average you will pay $450.00-$480.00 retail for all the parts needed for this kit.
I will be selling these kits soon for around $350.00.
email me if interested! :D

That's alot of money for a kit. Why not just buy a used 450R headlight and spend around 275.00 for everything.

Here's a picture of my 2000 Honda 400EX prior to the 2005 TRX conversion!

I don't know why it won't let me post more than one pic at a time?:ermm:

The new headlight unit alone sells for $155.00. Good luck finding a good used one!
My kit will come with hand fabricated headlight stay brackets.

It's easy to get a healight off this website for around 30-40$, most are barely used since racers don't need them. The brackets that hold the headlight are: The upper bracket which holds the fenders and light housing runs for $37.13 and the lower bracket runs for $2.10. I also built both of them for my freinds bike, but knowing now how cheap they are from the factory, all the other bikes I'm going to be doing, will have factory honda brackets. That way the only shop time will be on mounting the two tabs on the frame.

Hey Spr-Scott, It looks like I have some competition! No seriously I get my plastics and hardware pretty cheap! Headlight stay bracket ($23.50 OEM) I haven't had any luck finding used headlight units! The headlight is by far the most expensive part in this kit. "corrected...hand fabricated mounting tabs for the frame"
Thanks for the tip on the used headlights here!! :)

Just a suggestion, but someone should do a quick write up on this with pictures, since it is just fabbing two brackets for the rear, it sounds pretty simple, but a little more info and pics would be nice
