Polishing DG bumper and nerfs

This is probably a stupid question, but can I polish my DG bumper and nerfs. They're alloy, which I think is aluminum. What is the best stuff to use and the steps needed to make a mirror finish? Do I also have to sand them?

i used mother mag polish on mine, sanded a lil too with a steel wool, but i don't think you have to. I polished my buddies brand new DG grab bar with mothers, its helps to put it on with youre bare hand, and really rub it, till its like midnight black, then rub it off with a clean rag or towel, and do it a few more times.
