I want to polish my exhaust heat shield and beadlock rings that are red. I'm pretty sure there not steel, but I just want to make sure.

They easy way (90% accurate) to tell is use a magnet, if it sticks its steel, if not then aluminum.

any metal that contains iron, such as steel, is magnetic.

The magnet trick doesn't work very well on stainless steel. Many stainless steels are not magnetic so the magnet won't stick.

take a grinder to it and if it sparks its steel
