pilot jet

what exactly does the pilot jet do. i know the main jet it 3/4 to full and the needle is like 1/4 to 3/4. Thanks

the pilot jet is reponsible for supplying the engine with fuel from the carb from idle to 1/4 throttle and then the gas starts being pulled thru the main jet and the needle kinda acts like a metering device for the main jet.
