Well, what do you say?

Most people from michigan say pop. Ontario, quebec, ohio, illinios, minnesota, florida,bc, california, wisconson say pop too. Well the people I've met from those places have.

I try to say just coke or pepsi or whatever. Soda sounds kinda dorky to me. I know Andrew Dice Clays joke for pop too. So you don't need to say it.

:p

There's a guy that used to work here that called everything coke. Like "Can I have a pepsi coke? Or a sprite coke?" I wanted to punch him! We got into so many fights over it. Look at faygo. The label says FAYGO POP!!!! It's pop dang it.....POP!!! hehe

I say:

"I want a drank with it" then they say what kind, I say, "Mtn. Dew, or sun drop" around here...

Yes I say Drank, not drink. Drink sounds northern. In my dad's kid days they said "pop". "Goin' to the store gettin' me some candy and a pop".

African americans usually say "Soda" around here...:ermm:

12-14-2004, 10:29 AM
Both soda and pop make sense. they are both short for soda-pop which is what it was called back in the day. BUT COKE???? that would be like calling ever vehicle a chevy. or calling every movie "rocky" just plain silly!

Here in IL a lot of people call it pop. I think of "soda" in terms of a dessert treat that contains carbonated water like a chocolate soda. Haha but here in WI where I go to school I laugh at the way people pronounce their "O's". Everyone sounds like Bobby's mom from the show Bobby's World if you know what i'm talking about. - I like to drink my sooodaa while i'm fishing in my boete dontcha noooe! :p
