View Full Version : 2004 ITP QuadCross Final Round

12-12-2004, 07:30 PM
This was to be the final round for The ITP Quadcross. Patton and Schell who had battled back and forth for the lead were now both on new rides. Schell on an Alba Yamaha and Patton on a Golden West Honda(unofficial until 2005)

12-12-2004, 07:33 PM
As Patton readys for the first moto his dad prepares his gate.

12-12-2004, 07:38 PM
Mean while a few gates down Schell was doing the same.

12-12-2004, 07:41 PM
Keith Little was also there and made his presence known right off the gate....

12-12-2004, 07:47 PM
As Keith Little grabs the holeshot with Schell, Nelson, Lindsay, Nickell and Patton in the top six Positions. So where is Ellis?

12-12-2004, 07:50 PM
Kory getting to be known for not getting the greatest starts once again goes into the Taladega corner in 9th...

12-12-2004, 07:53 PM
With Little out front Leading everyone up Mt St Helens he was still being persued by Schell and nelson

12-12-2004, 07:55 PM
As they came back to the infield Little was still leading..

12-12-2004, 07:56 PM
With Schell not far behind....

12-12-2004, 07:59 PM
But wait who's this in third.... Ellis? Yep! Ellis picked off five riders on the first lap and Nelson had mechanical problems which put Ellis in third and in the HUNT...

12-12-2004, 08:03 PM
Cody Smith an ITP regular who makes the drive down from Salt Lake City, Utah for every ITP Race, had moved up to fourth after starting 6th.

12-12-2004, 08:06 PM
Ricky Nickell, who also had a fairly good start was now in 5th. The big question was how long he could hold on.. He is just back from a bad collar bone break which required surgery, plates and quite a few screws...

12-12-2004, 08:18 PM
Darrell Patton didn't get the start he wanted.. But still hanging onto the 6th spot...He knows in order to take the overall he needs to catch and pass Schell who has had a little more time setting up his quad...and getting prepared. Darrell is still trying to get back in shape after breaking his collar bone back at round 9.

12-12-2004, 08:21 PM
The next battle was for the 7th, and 8th. This was Baker, Spooner and Lindsay who dropped back after a descent start.

12-12-2004, 08:44 PM
At the end Little had held on for the win...

12-12-2004, 08:45 PM
Kory had made some ground on little but it just wasn't enough. He settled for 2nd..

12-12-2004, 08:49 PM
Schell come across in the third position as he fell off the pace of Ellis and Little...

12-12-2004, 08:52 PM
Holding down the fourth spot for moto 1 was Cody Smith...

12-12-2004, 09:00 PM
As we prepared for the second moto the weather was getting cold and the clouds had started moving in...

12-12-2004, 09:09 PM
Then my camera battery went dead, and while I scrambled for a new battery the second moto got under way with Dustin Nelson grabbing the holeshot, after a DNF in the first moto, followed closely by schell. As They came through Schell had made the pass on Nelson

12-12-2004, 09:10 PM
Things started to spread out quick Schell came through in first again....

12-12-2004, 09:12 PM
Followed by Nelson who after getting the DNF in the first moto was just riding for points..

12-12-2004, 09:14 PM
Also by this time Ellis who got a good start this time had now passed Keith Little and running in third..

12-12-2004, 09:15 PM
Little who started third had fallen to fourth..In order to get the overall he would have to try and get back around Kory...

12-12-2004, 09:20 PM
Patton was running in the middle of the pack in fifth and had very little chance of catching Schell, All he could hope for at this point was for Schell to have Problems...

12-12-2004, 09:22 PM
The battle thickened as Ellis got passed Schell. This put Schell between himself and Little...

12-12-2004, 09:24 PM
Kory leading Schell through the Taladega turn tries to put more room between himself and Little..

12-12-2004, 09:26 PM
Ellis, Schell and Little down the straight away...

12-12-2004, 09:28 PM
Baker and Smith had there own battle back a few spots...running fifth and sixth after getting around Patton...

12-12-2004, 09:29 PM
Patton and Nickell were also battling back and forth...

12-12-2004, 09:30 PM
Mike Machado #61 was having some problems with his Quad and called it a day...

12-12-2004, 09:37 PM
Jeff Spooner#56 had moved up to 7th followed by Ragan#5, both of which had gotten around Patton...

12-12-2004, 09:39 PM
Ellis continued to put space between himself and Little who had passed Schell to move into second.

12-12-2004, 09:41 PM
Little who passed Schell was now being chased by Nelson who was now in third with Schell dropping off the pace of the leaders..

12-12-2004, 09:42 PM
Nelson holding down the third spot was trying hard to catch Little..

12-12-2004, 09:43 PM
Cody Smith had moved up to fifth not far behind Schell...

12-12-2004, 09:45 PM
Kory Showed no signs of slowing, in fact he continued to put distance between himself and Little right down to the checkered flag...

12-12-2004, 09:46 PM
Little held off Nelson for second..

12-12-2004, 09:48 PM
These guys were still battling for the fifth spot....

12-12-2004, 09:51 PM
As Kory came down to get the checkerd flag and the overall for the day you can see the distance he put on Little...

12-12-2004, 09:54 PM
This being Kory's home town track, He usually does well here like when he won the opening round of the ATVA nationals back in February, which will be here again in a couple months!

12-12-2004, 09:55 PM
Keith Little took second and second for the day..

12-12-2004, 09:57 PM
Nelson rounded out the top three for moto 2

12-12-2004, 09:59 PM
Schell came through in the fourth spot. He might not have won the battle today but he did get the overall for the series...And the Championship....

12-12-2004, 10:01 PM
Patton who battled with Schell all season finished towards the back, but he still got second overall for the series...

12-12-2004, 10:04 PM
Schell seen hear getting congrats from friends will be running the Nationals next year with his new teamate Ellis. We wish him the best of luck next Year... There are no podium shots for the Race because by the time they finished racing it was pouring down rain...and I guess no one wanted to get wet...

Little had a rock hit his brakes in the second moto and had brake issues the rest of the race. I would have liked to seen Ellis and Little battle it out for awhile.

Big enough that only a few (less than 5) of the top pros were getting all the way over it.
