well i had a 406 with a stage 2 hot cam but i sold that motor to my buddy and he gave me his stock motor so now i am either going to build a wiseco 11:1 compression 416 or 426 probably 416 or just go to a 440 with a stage 2 hot cam. now i mostly MX race and trail ride will the 416 work good on the mx track as it will on the trail. i know they rev very fast. when i had my 406 i race my buddys 440 and only lost by 3 bike lenths so i am thinking a 416 will be better. what are your guys thoughts on this.

Bump
I would also like to know about this, if no one buys my 400ex by spring, I'm going to be making it into a MX monster...can't decide between 416 and 440.

i honestly don't think the bore makes that big of a difference. it wasn't much difference between my 406 and my 426 anyways. i have more torque now and it doesn't rev quite as high. this could have been from me switching from a stage 2 to a TC mx cam or it could be from the larger piston just doesn't rev as high. my buddy just added a full hmf pipe to his mild 406 and it opened up a ton. i think the pipe plays a huge role after you get some engine mods. however, we drag race so we will clearly see when one thing helps out a little bit. there isn't much else i can do to my motor besides going with bottom end work. i am pleased how it perform, but you know you always want more. i beat two stock yfzs in a drag race, but the piped ones i reall don't have a chance once they hit 4th gear. 5th gear evens back out though. i think i would do 416 because it is simple and easy. they run strong too. for mx the suspension might be more important than the overall speed of the bike.
