View Full Version : ? about interchangable a-arms

I have an 86 250r and I was told that 400ex a-arms are basically the same as the stock 250r a-arms and they will bolt up to the 250r no problem. Is this true for any year 400ex a-arms being the same? Will 400ex a-arms bolt up to 250r spindles?

I also heard that the 450r shocks will bolt up to stock 250r or 400ex a-arms! Does anybody know if this will work or even done it?

Thanks for any help!

The arms are the same except-
1- The frame mounts are wider on the 250r, so you would have to make some spacers.
2- The other problem with the arms is your year of chassis. The 86-87 250r upper arm mounts, measuring from the left to the right are a 1/2 inch wider then the 88-89 250r and 400ex so you might have a problem with the camber.
The shocks will fit without any problems.

The a arms will fit, but don't do it, it will throw your geometry off. I put 250r arms on my 400ex once and the tires would toe in as the a arm moved up.

As for the 450r shocks, they will not fit. I have tried it, they are to long, if you have them revalved they would work.

the 450r shocks will bolt up no problem if you turn them around (rezzys will hit some of the radiator shrouds depending on what they are)
