450R rear shock on 400ex?

I know the fronts wont fit without mods, but will the rear shock fit on a 400ex? I know they look close to being the same length, and I think we measured the linkages to be the same length. Anyone know about this???

Won't fit at the top! mount hits bottle area.

what the hell is the bottle area? Are you talking about the reservoir? The 400ex has a piggy reservoir set up the same way

i was talkin about the front. are their alot of mods to make?

Fronts have to be ground at the top of the eye to clear the welded on nut for the plastic bracket and also on the back side of the top eye area to clear the shock mount.
Rear hits at the resorvoir area ( located higher up on 450R) butcan be used if you're brave enough to grind the shock mount on the frame! Definately worth the effort- more adjustable and lowers the rear about 2"

Do you happen to have pics, or do you just know how it has to work? I really want to do this but I'm not so sure. I know how the fronts have to be modded but I'm just going to get better shocks for the front

hey BSTURDIVANT are you related to someone in the ky/tn area that rides a white 400ex #6 for redline racing. just wondering, cause i rode w/ this guy at the murray indoor, and his last name was the same

i forgot to mention that the yfz rear shock doen't work, b/c it about 3-4 inches longer than the 400 one

i have a set of front shocks off my 04 450r forsale. only used maybe 2 months. 280 for them plus shipping.
