I have a buddy with a 400ex with only a pipe and he hits his rev-limiter alot. If you get one, get the big-gun. It raises the rev-limit 1750 rpm's and adds 2 horsepower.I have read alot of articles and they say it is the best. The cheapest place to buy one is at rockymountainatv.com, they are the cheapest place.

There are 2 rev limiters that are HEAD AND SHOULDERS above the rest......

TC racing and GT Thunder...

Those are widely known by everyone as the best 2 rev limiters. I have the TC and a friend has the GT Thunder and they are both great. Each is specifically made for the 400ex as opposed to using a 250x rev limiter like white brothers and the others which makes it impossible to start... Plus the GT Thunder and TC Racing boxes have a much more aggressive curve to them...

I was wondering what the names of the two cdi's were that didn't affect the starting of the 400. Thanks.

mine has never effected it. all you have to do with mine is charge the battery before you instal it and not worry from then on. I have the big gun and no starting problems whatsoever. i havent done research on the tc or gt cdi's so i dont know about them.

TC and gt thunder. :D the gt thunder one i have is an aggressive curve. he makes more than 1 for the 400ex. this one definately makes the bike idle a little bit irratic and it needs to be warmed up before it will idle, in cold weather that is. the less aggressive curves on his other boxes are supposed to be really smooth idleing. however, mine has started all year and it has been around 40 degrees so far. my sparks wouldn't start in 40 degree weather. some claim the big gun will start in teh cold too, but i have never tried it.

Has anyone ever tried the magnum boxes? I heard they adjust the timing to make it easier to start just like the gt thunder. just curious what people think of them.

i have a white bros and i have no probs with it, not too fancy for a stock engine like mine, but effective.
