i heard that they do fit!! i think it was on atvconnections that a guy went to his local dealer and the part #'s matched or something like that, or just go and look at the mounting on a new one, but im pretty sure they are the same cuz they have the same frame and everything

also remember this. the 05 400ex plastics are molded as one unlike the 450r where the front is 2

if they do fit somehow, how much would it cost for the front?

i was looking at one today and all the mounting places appeared to be the same. had a switch in the right front fender not sure what that was though. do the 05's have a reverse? another thing i noticed was the ignition and neutral light was in the handle cover instead of on top of the light.

yes they have reverse and that is what the switch on the right front fender is

Yes they bolt right up. The mounting locations looked to be the exact same as the older style. The only problem with buying the new plastics is that you'll have that hole int he plastic for the reverse switch.

you will also have to buy a new head light assembly and make sure that the pigtails are the same on the new style headlight plug and the one on the frame.

Or you could just throw a hood on it.

The 05 plastic is two separate fenders. The fenders will bolt right up but you'll be missing a bracket that crosses the frame and both fenders are plastic riveted to it. In order to add this bracket you'll need to weld two small brackets to the frame to bolt this braket to the frame. Also the light won't bolt up . You'll need two brackets one for the bottom headlight assy. and one behind the light for moving all you wiring harnesses. You'll need to move you cpu box for the light to fit. You'll also need the plastic piece under the light because it stabilizes the front of the fenders. After all of this you'll need to buy a hood as it helps hold everything together as well also covers up everything. In all it's pretty complicated but worth it if your planning on keeping your bike. I should have my freinds 04 completed within the next 2 weeks. http://predator.bikepics.com/pics/honda-400ex-04-bikepics-262591.jpg http://predator.bikepics.com/pics/honda-400ex-04-bikepics-262599.jpg
