Does anybody know if there's anyway to convert a 400ex into kickstart.

I believe there is, you'd have to use the XR400 kickstart I believe. Try doing a search on the XR400 kickstart and see what you can come up with.

I can't rember who to or where i asked this question but they told me without a doubt it is impossible. I am pretty sure honda didn't even put a way to connect a kickstart assembly at all. I may be wrong but that is what i remember hearing.

I beg to differ, I also thought about this idea... it'd be very nice in my opinion, but you do have to buy about 400$ for of gears and such out of a xr400 bottom end. theres many threads on this subject.-darren

I know it's not impossible, I swear I remember seeing this on EXRiders before where someone put a kickstart on their EX from an XR400 engine...maybe they even interchanged some parts, probably using the XR bottom end of course.

You're correct, i remember a thread talking about doing it. i heard its like $2000 though! You have to use the complete bottom end from a XR400, and there is other things, but it is definately possible and has been done!

sounds like you would lose the electric start to do this mod, not worth it in my opinion. the kicker would be nice as a backup, but the electric start is nice, why take it off?

the kickstart would be coming out right where theres a frame rail coming down

like they said above i saw the thread a while back a search will find what you need, but the guy who was talking about it decided for the price its not worth it and you would loose the e start
