A thought has been running through my head about selling or trading my 03' Z400 for a Raptor. I've only ever ridden one and it put a bad taste in my mouth, but it was faaar from stock and it has a few problems. The biggest thing I noticed about it was the fact that it handled way different than what I am used to. I have been riding Honda EX's and now my Z for many years and have gotten so in tune with the "feel" of them that the Raptor was definately different.

Anyhow, what would be you're opinion on this idea? I do trail riding, hill clims, wheelies, and sometimes just "putt" around.

Which is more versitile and easier to menouver?

How about dependability? I know the Z has had its share of manufacturer problems, but I belive the Raptor did as well in their 1st year debute.

I also want to add that my Z is about as mint as it could get, very few miles on it...Here is a pic....What do you think I should do?

Dude the Z is much better suited for the trails. The reliability issues that have surfaced from the Z are from hardcore racing and those are from areas that most people modify before they race anyway. I love my KFX. once it gets aftermarket shocks and steering damper then it will be the perfect quad for me and my style of riding and racing. Your Z is in awsome condition and a rare find being that clean. We need to hook up and ride so that I can help you wipe the new look off of that thing:devil:

I thought I wiped the new look off of it last weekend when my "stoppie" went bad. It ended up on top of me with my son struggling to get it off. It didnt even scratch the fenders, just moved my levers down. I keep them fairly loose so they will do that when something happens.

Hooking up sounds good. I havent put in a good day of riding since I've had this thing. I really dont have a decent place to ride afound here.

I might try to set something up for next weekend so keep an eye on your PM's
If you don't have an after market rear skid plate go pick up one. I recommend the PRM Z-plate

seems like the raptor would have too much low end for good trail riding. atleast on hills

I've had both, and can tell you from experience. Don't trade a Z for a Raptor. They're too narrow, and have a high center of gravity. If you like going fast in a straight line, then raptors are good, but the Z is 10x better in the handling department than the raptor. I would never trade a Z for a Raptor.

between the two definetly the Z. Only other choices from there are yfz450, 450R...;)

Thanks for the opinions guys. I think I will stick with what I have. It would be hard to find another one in the condition this one is in anyhow.
