I have the below mods and still dont feel like my ex has the get up and go like it should. I do plan on however, getting a new curtis sparks full system. My edelbrock carb has one more bigger needle I can go with. do you think that would make a difference? Would getting a higher compression piston be better? {i dont care if i have to run race gas}. Maybe change the cam or sprockets?? I just need some good suggestions on where to turn. Money is not a big deal. I appreciate all the feedback, thanks. Reaper

First of all is your head ported? ( idont see it in your sig) If its not i would do that first. Higher compression helps a lot but if you go over 12:1 i would get a heavy duty rod.

Yeah, that monsters got to breath. Are u happy with the ED carb, I don't hear good things about those. Hey, for the hell of it, can u post a pic of this thing, sounds sick.

port/flow the head is the most reliable HP money can spend; plus, it's like DirtDevil said "Yeah, that monsters got to breath"!

very true.

hope this helps

We had nothing but problems with the same carb! Go with FCR39, get a pipe that's not a gimick- the power bomb lives up to it's name on the dyno - Sparks, GT Thunder, Hetrick all make similar HP.

Is both the exhaust and intake polished?
Did you go with bigger valves?
Bigger valves aren't necessery, just asking.
How does your plug look?
Do you still have the stock carb?

I didnt get new valves and as a matter of fact, since the engine work was done I havent gotten the valves adjusted. I do have the stock carb just not on the quad. In my sig I'am currently running that edelbrock 440 carb. You said you had lots of problems with it..what were they?? The only thing I had to do was drill out my throttle and even after that my carb still has some more room to open. Maybe an aftermarket throttle will help.

I know of 2 ppl that bought edelbrock carbs and neither of them like them, So we have like 1000 dorrlars worth of carbs just sittin on the work bench, And with the tourge the 44o is putting out, u might might want to get a stage 2 or bigger!

My quad keeps up with a 450r with the hrc kit. I think that you should get a stage 2.

Also, I havent really ridden a 440 that hit hard, They just seem to pull stonge all the way threw the RPM's From what iv noticed my 416 hit harder, But it didnt make the Hp, or the tourge the 440 did, It just reved quicker i feel. I would for sure try a stage 2 cam! I think u will be very impressed!

With the hotcam stage 2, I can definitely feel it pull harder when I get into the higher rpms. The carb also really woke up my quad without any problems.
