400ex Starting MODS

well......my 400ex is 3 months old and iam ready for some mods.........at the moment i have $1250 to spend on it........i want the good stuff.........no cheap "you can get by with ... "

well are you going for; power or handling? I went for power, but from what I hear, most people are happier with suspension mods.

I recommend tires first. I would get some paddles if you dune and som Razrs for MXin

i want the a little of both (handling and performance) i was thinking maybe a big bore, my stock suspension is working great for me right now..........i have no problem controling the quad now......but if it gets "alot" more powerful........maybe some suspension mods will be needed.........try to keep it around the $1250 area......

I may not own EX but i know most of the main mods. White Bros. E-series S-bend pipe-$260, K&N filter-$58 or Uni 2-stage foam$28, Grind welds off head pipe, remove choke (the last 2-do a search on how and what to do) New cam-$135, 440 kit-$260 Pro-peg Nerfs-$220(AC, don't know price for Graydon) Purchase some jets Do some air box mods too
Total=$933(with K&N)
You can probaly find these parts for cheaper. You might want to save the rest of your money and get some works or Elka's. As for improving handling, the cheapest way is wheels spacers, or new axle or A-arms. Hope that helps

Well for the Motor I would get a Slip-On Pipe. I like the TC. Get a TC Pipe-$319, K&N Air Filter-34.99, Outerwear-9.99, TC 416 Piston-I think it`s around $120, and a TC XC or MX Cam-XC is $179 and MX is $209. That is what I would do for the Motor.

The I would save for Elka Triple Rate, SSD, Comp. Adjust Front Shocks and a Elka SSD, Mac Daddy Rear Rebuild. The Quadshop can get you that Setup for $1000. So you might be looking at $2000 for the Motor and Chassis. If you want the Best then you will have to Save for it.
