Here we are, getting ready to catch our plane to las vegas. Chris is on the right and T (anthony) on the left. The box on the floor is a pair of sand star sand paddles for chrises 400ex with a +3 roll design front end with axis shock(T has the same). the other box was mine, I had 4 brand new k&n filters, 10 ngk br8es plugs, 3 bottles of amsoil Dominator 2 stroke oil and a nice new seat cover, which you will see soon;)

We finally rounded up the stuff we needed at the MX stores and headed off to pick up the rv's!!

the guy behind the counter must have been the most sarcastic guys i ever met in my life!! he was hilarious!!

thats rob the PIMP on the far right, he was the only NON HONDA in the bunch with his predator, but hey, at least his bike is red!! ;)

beerock
12-03-2004, 09:08 PM
heres some of the stuff we picked up at the mx shop, man were they happy when we bought all that stuff!! I bought a pair of rear sand stars on 10" itp's and rob bought a full set of sand stars on CAST itp rims.

We all learned a valuable thing about the cast rims they are heavier then .190 rims!!!!!!!! Also, think about this, if you hit something hard with the cast rims, the rim will crack and youll be down and out. at least with the aluminum you just bend it.....

the weight difference was at least 3-5 pounds!!

beerock
12-03-2004, 09:09 PM
el monte RV in vegas is top notch!! we got two of these babies with ford triton v10's!! they cost about 1800, plus gas but split between 3 people its not that bad, especially if you wanna go big dog styleee!! :macho

5 hours later WOO HOOO!!!!! sign for the dunes!! The road we were on was about 20 miles long and was all dirt!! man we didnt even get to ride our bikes yet and we were already hitting whoops!!! LOL

beerock
12-03-2004, 09:28 PM
Now, one thing i didnt say yet was, we were in our camping spots. JAY, who drove the 26' uhaul across country had no way to get in touch with us. we had no cell phone signal and he was no where on the dunes property(campground) It was 1 in the monring. so Jeff, doc and chris went out in the van to find him in the near by town of kanab. everyone else went to bed, I couldnt sleep thinkin about where they were, they were gone for a good 3 hours. All of a sudden they all pull up, I jump out of bed and run out side. JAY was with them with the 26' uhaul. IT WAS ON!!!!!!!

beerock
12-03-2004, 09:29 PM
I got on top of the rv to look for some dunes!! this was the first look I got!:D AWESOME!!!

beerock
12-03-2004, 09:39 PM
I threw my paddles on:macho

beerock
12-03-2004, 09:41 PM
jay was lovin the 330R he was screaming the thing.

Right off the bat I felt a loss of power, coral pink is about 4500 feet above sea level. with my bike i had to be on it WOT shifting hard or it would bog, it was not set up right...YET

beerock
12-03-2004, 09:44 PM
This trail was 4-5th WOT with the usual whoops. at least 3, if your a pro, 4 wide to pass. I still was not liking the power loss.

beerock
12-03-2004, 09:45 PM
found a couple hills later in the day. This is chris comin up on the 400, check out that front end!

beerock
12-03-2004, 09:48 PM
the sand was a nice color, i guess pink?:chinese: i guess thats where the name is from...:p

Right before these two pics at the hill I went back to camp and switched from 14/38 gearing to 14/39 gearing. MAN what a difference!!

chris again....

beerock
12-03-2004, 09:50 PM
the 400 and the 450 believe it or not were both down on power chris made it up the hill but that was about it... the elevation was definately a big roll. later on the brothers(chris and T) changed there gearing, it helped them but they could have had more fun then they had, but hell, we were in coral pink Utah!!ITS ALL GOOD.

this is jay trying to get up!

beerock
12-03-2004, 09:53 PM
they kept trying, i have a video of chris making it up once i wonder how i can get it up in this thread?

beerock
12-03-2004, 10:00 PM
the r's had to sweat a little to get up the hill but nothing the R can't handle:macho even my little 265!!

the hill we were going up was to the right.

the hill straight ahead doc, me and jay made it up to the top, No one else.

beerock

I just emailed doc, i think he has a pic of me going up the hill in the background 3 pics back, I didnt make it the first time, but thats becasue i had 14/38 gearing, i went back with the 14/39 and made it up but have no pics :o I have proof though, here we are at the top of that hill!!!

hangin out on top of a pretty long and steep hill.

beerock
12-03-2004, 10:15 PM
i was racing this guy up the hill on his yfz, full sparks exhaust, advanced timing and intake. he pulled me most of the time. but i wasnt far behind!

the 400 and stock 450 were not making it up this hill. hence the tracks turning around.

I hit the bottom once in third WOT and bottomed hard then the bike bogged, i had to turn around too. but every other time i made it up screaming it in 2nd. it was fun:devil:

beerock
12-03-2004, 10:18 PM

12-03-2004, 10:23 PM

8 inches of snow!!!

our buddy jeff came back on his raptor and said he was packing up and goin back to vegas. now we were going to leave that night but when he came back everyone is like why. LOL WHY!!! so we all went out scattered next thing you know BOOOFFF, my bike is stuck in a 5 foot snow drift!!!!!!!!!! HAHAHHA

got it out went back to camp and started to load the bikes.

if it wasnt for the hose the trailer would have been a complete mess. while it was snowing we washed all the bikes off and rolled them to the trailer and threw them in one by one so the water would be to a minimal.

imagine if we loaded the bikes with all the snow:eek:

beerock
12-03-2004, 10:33 PM
we were outta there!! and now we had Jay and the uhaul. I rode shot gun in the uhaul.

beerock
12-03-2004, 10:34 PM
look at this convoy!!

beerock
12-03-2004, 10:37 PM
this was pretty funny, we pull up to this park toll after about a half hour drive. turns out theres a tunnel and we CANT FIT!!

UNLESS, we pay 30 each vehicle and have the tunnel closed off with a police convoy so we can drive down the center of the tunnel to fit!!

No thanks:devil:

beerock
12-03-2004, 10:38 PM

That was a crazy night in vegas. we went to the belagio for the buffet and man was it killer, they even had somehting right up pappys alley!! venecin sp? they had rack of lamb, sushi, pastas, it was insane and everything was so good!! after that doc and jeff went back to rest up. then the boys went out, me jay, rob chris and T I would say what the night went like but lets just say rob pimped out a limo for us and we ended up spending over 3 large not hundreds...... ;) rob and I were the last standing everyone else bailed early but still partied hard. us on the other hand walked up to the rv's at 10 am!!!!! boy was doc pissed, i had to drive the rv to glamis but he wouldnt let me because i had no sleep. so rob and I got in the other rv and drove the whole way to glamis with no sleep!!!! NO i didnt pass out!!! we were too siked for glamis!!!!

beerock
12-03-2004, 11:04 PM

beerock
12-03-2004, 11:07 PM
the first quads we saw on the dunes, we couldnt see the dunes but we saw these atv's with lights on the valve stem, they were sweet, i ended up getting a pair of red ones for my rims they helped us at night when we were a couple hundred feet apart to hone in on each other.

beerock
12-03-2004, 11:11 PM
we couldnt wait, we went for a night rip!!! (still no sleep and rockin!!!)

beerock
12-03-2004, 11:12 PM
here is tyhe camp site, WASH 13.5 near oldsmobile hill.

we boxed in all our quads(my idea) so no one could take off or roll one away. we met up with another one of our buddies howie and pat, they both had banshees with HUGE 6 gallon tanks..

beerock
12-03-2004, 11:13 PM

beerock
12-03-2004, 11:30 PM
this is the end of sand highway, near buttercup, gordons wells, and yea mexico!!

sand high way was sick!! we were all in top gear(I was in 5th couldnt pull 6th with my gearing. but i was still going just as fast as everyone else, but with a nice wide bike to handle the high speed, and i MEAN high speed whoops. woohoom, it was a rush being in 5th wot looking over on the other trails next to you and seeing your boys ripping!! there were 3 main highways and we were all dicing back in forth. that was until me and mike hit it hard and pulled away from everyone. the walsh and protrax really soak up everything and forgive you if you come up on a big whoop to fast, I wouldnt do it on anything else!!!

beerock
12-03-2004, 11:31 PM
another angle, we were all stoked, it was some insane WOT riding, at least for a good 20 minutes...

beerock
12-03-2004, 11:35 PM
thats why we needed six pack racks...... the R's had 4 gallon tanks and 2 gallon spares in the rack.... if we didnt have them we wouldnt have made it back.... since we went all the way to........................

chris had a mishap over a dune and nosed it into a steep one, I saw the whole thing, I went buy him to go catch the leader so we could stop and not all get lost, jay stopped and made sure he was alright. he was ok a little beat up.
problem was he blew his rear paddle out.:o and we were about 50 miles from camp!

beerock
12-03-2004, 11:55 PM
the bwr R on the stand getting ready for some paddles for day 2, the sand was hard so we used reg tires then, it softened up a bit later on the next day. I also switched from 14/39 to 13/37 ( 2 tooth difference from 14/38. I picked up so much power.

as soon as we got to glamis we all had WAY MORE POWER THEN coral pink. man elevation is a HP KILLER!!!!!

feeling it first hand makes you understand......

beerock
12-03-2004, 11:58 PM
We met up with my boys corey alex, alexes girlfriend nicole and her son sam.

This is T and chris doing a 2 man wheelie. and eevryone at alex and corecys campground gathered and watch, little did they know WHO my boys were camping/hanging with.

Someone started taking pictures from a certain magazine, which you will know who soon. then they gave us all sweat shirts and t shirts, and the other big dog gave us sick hats..... to be announced shortly!!!

beerock
12-04-2004, 12:02 AM
One problem that happened on the way to my buddies was docs R blew a colant hose and cooked the orings, it still had compression but he had to be towed:o :o I was waiting to get everyone together to meet up with my friends to go for a ride for at least two hours, then another 45 minutes riding then, half hour to get to there campground becasue docs bike blew. So rob towed docs walsh to there campground and I figured after we went for a ride(since my boys were waiting for me for 3+ hours then we would use coreys jeep and trailer mikes bike back so he can hop on the 450r.

NOW, i can start introducing who we were exactly meeting up with... by the way thats my buddy alexes BUGGY.

beerock
12-04-2004, 12:05 AM
another sick view, the buggies are EXTREME PERFORMANCE buggies, alexes has a ls6 vette motor all aluminum and its WORKED pushing 800HP he had all the shocks anodized to match the paint... no king shocks were this color that i saw, they were all blue like...............

beerock
12-04-2004, 12:06 AM
like alan and melissa the owners of extreme performances sand rails.

this buggy is the newest design chassis and he has a ls6 TWIN TURBO!!! pushing 1200HP

both buggies have mendeola trannies

beerock
12-04-2004, 12:09 AM
we first went for a ride with alex and corey, alex has a limited banshee, and corey had a alba yfz450

beerock
12-04-2004, 12:11 AM
bad picture but this sweatshirt was from nick the owner of the magazine company we were doing tricks for and riding with... ahh the suspense, nope not tellin yet!!

beerock
12-04-2004, 12:14 AM
The next day i cruised over to alex and coreys early by myself since no one was ready and they were waiting. man those guys missed out. the extreme performance crew, magazine crew and film crew headed out to the dunes in the buggies and i followed and occasionally passed on my BWR laeger. corey and I were on our bikes, the other two quads started following us and we later found out they were in the camp site with everyone there, but they had a real hardtime just keeping us in site, we were going that fast. they had a raptor and a stock 250r

We were flying through the big bowls, I was in 4th and 5th through the bowls and i was keeping up!! they were all reallly surprised

beerock
12-04-2004, 12:17 AM

I told alex, corey and nicole.

"GUYS im holding on the the grab bars harder then i do on my bike"

they all started laughing and said we were going three times as fast during the day when i was keeping up.

I still cant comprehend the speed I guess its because there so big compared to atv's but they can go just as fast, hell, ALOT faster.

alex foot walked a jump he did once and it was 167 feet!!!

My last day was cut short, we rode over for one last ride on the quads and right after we left and met with corey and alex my lil b+b 265 popped a intake leak, ran the mtoor lean and i had no compression after that, so ai sat around there campground and hung with john and nick.

when they got back from there ride i watched them put the buggy away...

Even though there wasnt many action shots it was awesome, just seeing all the vehicles and stuff at Glamis you can tell it was awesome! Since a picture is worth a thousand words, i would say those pics were worth about 2000 a piece!

Do you have any video from this trip ?

Temps out here do get hot, but in Idaho we dont get hot summers like Glamis too much. Usually in June you can expect 80's . The dunes are near the Teton Mnts. so temps are more mild . Hoep you can make it out Bee.... :)

Man, I was out at the coral pink dunes just last year (03) but I didn't have a bike to ride at all! I know exactly where yall were and I went through that tunnel yall didn't go through because you had to pay 30 bucks, I had to wait for RVs to come through with escorts. It was a cool tunnel though! We just had a 2wd burb and I climbed the tall dune right there at the observation deck and my god, that was a huge chore! I swear it looked easier than it was, the sand was hard to walk in and that dune is MUCH bigger when you start walking up it.

I REALLY wish I had a quad to ride out there, driving around the camp ground and drooling over all the quads and sand rails sucked.

Those rails are easily in the $100K range. I rode in one with a Tatum framed LS1 built by Redline, with 28" of wheel travel all the way around, and he said it started at like $110K. They are incredible though. Once you ride in one you will wonder why you ever even brought the quad.;)

ALL I CAN SAY IS WOW:devil:

I'm glad everyone liked the pcitures and commentary.I didnt know the pics would do what they did for some people. I tried my best! I guess it shined?

The dunes are awesome. One thing though, just because it looks like all fun you have to understand we all rode with a level head(well maybe I was a little crazy when i was following the buggies in 4th and 5th). In glamis and coral pink You have to use your head, you can die very quick if you think you are awesome and can crest hills fast. ALWAYS use your head and ride within your boundries.Otherwise your trip can turn into disaster.

I talked to all the boys and it looks like we will be hitting idaho sometime, sooner then later. maybe spring. We usually dont ride in the heat of the summer, thats what we have boats for.

Also, Im workin on giving harlen a call to make a monumental event for atvriders.I've been so damn busy I havent had a chance to call.

I second what beerock said, it can be very dangerous in the dunes, sometimes when climbing a hill you think its gonna crest at the top but it just drops close to straight down :eek2:,

Is there a lot of razor backs at glamis ? I know there is a ton here, it just makes you that much more careful!

Idaho is closer than Glamis i think, so keep us updated on that trip, i would love to make it if at all possible!

I feel the same, I have had a nasty wreck on the dunes before, when we take our annual group san ride, we usually ride alot more mellow especially since were away from home and all. I am one that also believes that you NEVER..EVER ride alone out there ..too much can go wrong in a big hurry... I learned this personally when I first started riding the hard way :(
