if the compression ratio is higher than 11:1 then yes, if its at 11:1 or lower no

I suppose I could get away with not mixing VP-C12 and 91 unleaded @ 50/50, but the cost factor isn't bad for me. Keeps the motor a little cooler as well. Actually runs VERY well this way. You wanna play, you have to pay.

Keep all the gaskets stock and you shouldn't need race gas.

Hey I just had my motor built and I run stright 100 octane. Ye it sucks cause by me its $4 a gallon. It runs better and alittle cooler.

I have a 426 11:1, should be close to a true 11:1 cuz of no base gasket. I run 104 mixed with 91, I pretty much run the race gas for the lead and piece of mind cuz it runs cooler. I think it runs alot better on the race gas.

VP-C12 is 110 octane. Mix that 50/50 with 91 premium and it comes out right about at 100 octane. 5 gal. of C-12 is $36 or so. Yeah, it's a little spendy but worth it.

You can get a 10:1 416 piston that will run all day on 91 guaranteed. No probs. Run a thin base and head gasket and get somewhere in the neighborhood of 10.4:1. Should be just fine on 91 also.

around here you can get a 55 gallon drum of the vp for around 200 or less, and it depends on the compression if you need it or not , the 11:1 rule stands well, i dont understand building a motor and not reaping all the benefits if you add it up the race gas will not cost that much more a year

yeah race gas really isn't that bad at all price wise for the peace of mind. With 5 gallons i can get 6 motos and a couple days of practice.

definitley go a little higher on the compression and run the race gas. Race gas is 5.65 a gallon out here but well worth every penny. No matter what compression you go with I HIGHLY reccomend that you install a set of Heavy Duty Head studs from East Coast ATV. The kit is 95 bucks and will save you a TON of headaches, take it from me!! When I built my motor I neglected this at first and blew 4 head gaskets in 6 rides!!! I have since blown none...
