I was cornering hard today and my hand slipped off my bars and my grip went flying, luckily I didn't hit the tree I was aiming for lol.

Anyway, I tried that old hairspray trick we used to use on BMX bikes, but didn't do jack, so now I need to figure out how to secure my grips by the end of tomorrow because i'm going riding saturday and sunday.

I used grip glue once, I dunno if i over did it or what but it totally melted the grip. Now I just use carb cleaner seems to work pretty well, afterwards I usually do the metal wiring and tie them up to make sure they have no play or movement in them.

Hair spray has always worked for me. Spraying hairspray on dirty bars or in a dirty grip is like pissing into the wind. Take a clean shop rag and some rubbing alcohol. Clean the bar and then put the rag over a Philips screwdriver and clean the inside of the grip. The rubbing alcohol will dry pretty quickly. Spray the bar lightly (cover all the sides but don't have it dripping wet) and then slide the grip on. Position it where you want it and then leave it sit overnight. It should be good to go after that.

The bars are nice and clean, but maybe the inside of my grips isn't, I think I wanna buy new grips anyway, maybe i'll get some new grips and buy some grip glue.

Narly R showed me that you can take masking tape, and wrap it a few times on the end of your bars and far enough over, but still where your grip will cover it (make sure your bars or clean first) then put a lil gas in your grip and swish it around, and dump the excess out and put the grip on turning it, and take it off turning it. Do it a few times until it starts to get hard to put on, then get it on and position it how you want it. We let mine set for about 20 mins or so and it didnt move until i took it off to put new grips on!

i have once caught the inside of a grip that was being stubborn on fire. and then let it get hot and put it on the bar when it cooled it woudnt budge.

LMAO, I bought a bunch of bike grips for 25 dollars, And I gave up one GLUE, I went out bought a nice spoll of saftey wire, and I just wire my grips, and I have never had one turn on me, or even try to slip off!

Im never going back to glues again!

my methods have always been hair spray or spray paint AND safety wire, grip glue just makes them a PITA to get back off IMO:ermm:

make sure the bar and grip is clean and rub it down with soapy water slide the grip on and in a day or to when the soap dries it is on good. when u wanna take it of get a can of wd-40 with the lil straw and slide the straw between the bar and the grip and spray in a couple places.
