Not new, but new to me. 98 Explorer. 65k It is much nicer than my 92 F150 with no options, and 200k!

nice buy man!! my mom has the EXACT same car. 98 explorer, eddie baurer(sp?). hers is black tho and urs looks blue. ur gona liek it, rides nice and the same engine as a mustang i beileve. all wheel drive great in the snow and stuff. good luck with it:)

Same engine as a V6 mustang maybe, which even in a mustang makes it slow, in a heavier SUV and poor aerodynamics its gonna be even wimpier.

But, its not a sports car, and neither is a V6 mustang :p

The 350 in my truck is putting out around 275HP right now, need some performance cylinder heads and bump the compression a bit and i'll be rockin. Oh yeah and some 4.10 gears so I can turn the tall and heavy 33x12.5" tires :macho

Not a bad looking F*@D though, just watch out for roll-overs and fires. That one looks cleaner than most, most of the ones I see aren't ever taken care of and look bad.

Don't most of the V8 versions have badging on them?

Anyway, I think v8s are too much engine for mid-sizes, they only belong is full-size trucks, a v8 in one of those is a waste when you can't even use it, a I6 or V6 would get the job done just as well and get better fuel economy.

The 4.6 V8 Explorers get only 1 mpg worse than the 4.0 V6 ones. Same with the Jeep Grand Cherokees. We went with the I6 on my wife's based on getting better fuel economy. Found out afterwards that the same Jeep with the 4.7V8 only got 1mpg less. The sixes have to work harder than the V8's.

Nice truck man, My moms got an '02 explorer and it gets down for what it is. I recently got an '01 Ranger with a 4.0 V6

Yeah, but the I6 is a better motor if you ask me, we got two peices of solid proof in the driveway right now, both with almost 250k miles on them, no rebuilding and they hardly use any oil and run strong.

I am thinking about trading my VW in for a used Jeep Cherokee because I like them so much.

Oh yeah, and OF COURSE BIGGER IS ALWAYS BETTER.

I would love to put a 454 into my truck, but I don't think my poor 700r4 would handle it :devil:

This is my old '98 XLT. It was a great ride, but after a couple years of towing the quads and stuff, the infamous "rear-end sag" that Explorers are known for kicked in. I eventually had to trade it in on a Tahoe. Check out www.explorer4x4.com , its the equivalent of ATVriders, anything you want to know or are considering doing can probably be answered there.

It is the 4.0 V6. I wanted the 6, and had to actually look around for a while to find it. Everyone had the V8's for sale!
