I am finally getting my 01 400 ex together (project). Its been apart for so long that I have lost a few misc bolt including the most important one. the Engine drain plug. I dont want to order one from honda so can anyone tell me what size bolt the drain plug is?

There are some magnetic ones on ebay. They help pic up some of the stuff the filter missed.

Like K_Fulk said, I would just go with the magnetic ones off of eBay.

i really dont want to have to order one and then wait on it to get here. I was hoping I could just find out what size it is a get one from the hardware store. I dont think the honda dealer keeps them in stock

We just picked one up for my 300 @ the Ace hardware it is one oversized but they have the regualr ones too, I think we paid .59 :eek2: not sure what the size is right off hand but the part # is 90131-896-650 if that helps any. You can go to service honda & see what size it is or just call the dealership & ask the size GOOD LUCK!!

Dirt momma tanks alot! I got another bolt for it today. Works just fine. Dune buggy, why wait when you can just go to the hardware store and get one if you know what your looking for. I'm glad dirtmomma understands :)

you still need the honda crush washer. a normal washer won't work

The reason why you'd wait is because you could order a magnetic one which will pick up all metal pieces in your tranny oil...unless your hardware store sells those?

We used a nylon washer & it works just fine!! As for waiting a week screw that, & I think EVERY Honda dealer should stock at least 1 drain bolt!! It's just a damn bolt not like it would break the bank if it sat in parts for awhile
As for the magnetic ones you MAY be able to pick one up @ a auto parts store :) Glad ya got one & are back on the road
