it works great !
it takes about an houre to install and it realy gives some extra power that the 300 can use and when i put it on for the first time i had a stock pipe and stock filter and i ate up piped 300's !!!!!

yeah that 400 carb on that 300 really woke it up big time.and like he said the stock 300 w/carb takes a pipe 300 w/ filter and jet kit like the other guy is standing still.

as far as you sprockets go I am not a Flat track guy but I am guessing that you don't have to have all that much take off power since you don't really slow down to much you just keep it wide open all the time. so I would gear it up but not to much. maybe 14-36 and if you put the carb maybe even 15-36.

I got a 350ex and i run 14-36 gearing. i think 14 is the biggest you can go on the front, and 36 the smallest on the rear without special ordering a sprocket. I ride tight woods, and open fields and really like the taller gearing. It doesn't come up in 4th as easy as it used to but i can still pull it up. I got my rear sprocket for $16 (JT steel sprocket) so it is an inexpensive mod and you can always change it back for different riding.
