have been out of the loop on quads for a while and was just wondering what out there is new and what setup has some decent quality for the cheapest price... lookin to get into racing but want to learn the ropes on the 300 so i dont wana put the best equipment on it...

also sounds like a noob question but is +2 meaning each arm is an inch longer and 2 inches overall or does that mean that its 2 on each side and 4 overall? and which is best for the mx/xc combo?

+2 a-arms mean: +2 on each side, so +4 overall

I think so. But you can always try ebay. They probably have some good deals on a-arms.

those american stars are the cheapest i've seen, but i dont know if they're reputable. I would probably stick with Burgard.

burgaurds are the cheapest reputable a-arms on the market, i wouldnt go any cheaper than them.

for your set up, if your racing cros country, get the plus 2,plus 1 a-arms and get a 400ex relocater bracket off ebay. then, since you want to do everything cheap, call works suspension and they can make you custom shock for that set up. (you'll have to give them some measurments is all, its no more expensive i dont think) this is the hot set up for an xc 300ex.

oops, didnt read your whole post. if you want a good mx/xc bike, you may prefer a plus 3 a-arm. the plus 2's with with 4+1 wheels will put you right as stock 400ex width, plus 3's would be about 2 inches wider than that. it will be a tad wider than normal for xc, but should help alot on the mx part. ideally you would want the plus 2's for xc and the plus 3's for mx, but since your trying to build a more all around machine, i would say the plus 3's would be a good choice

who makes the best relocater on the forum? anyone have any troubles of tie-rod ends getting hung up in the a-arms on this setup? had it once but i had my bracket measurements off...

you should be fine with the tierods since your usuing 300ex a-arms instead of 400ex. as for who makes the best bracket, i dunno. just look around and ask questions. look for one with lots of gussets and make sure its made of a nice strong material

All I can say is you DO NOT want to buy any cheaper a arms than the burgards... The American stars are crap and if you try to chintz on your chassis components you will pay for it in the end trust me!! Fab tech seems to be crap too based on a post I saw recently on here about a swingarm that came apart. You can chintz on some stuff, but chassis components are definitely not one of them...

I run American Star for MX,FT and I haven't had any problem with them at all. Yeah they are cheap but they hold their own. LIFE time warranty..If they break or anything you can send them back and get a different pair..

ASR is good with me..

really depends on how wide you mind being in the woods. the plus 2's will have you about a half inch wider than a 400ex, plus 3's will be narrower but closer to predator width.46 inches is about the max anyone wants for a full on xc racer, 50 inches is what you want for a full on mx'er. so i say try to hit 47-48 inches wich is about the width of a predator.

Check out RP Evolution out of Quebec Canada ( www.splashndirt.com) or maybe HSD out of Manitoba Canada . Both have good reputations up in my neck of the woods .

What about using 400ex front a-arms and shocks, then get the shock relocator mount off of ebay. They make it wider and from what I heard are alot nicer than the stock 300 suspension, plus they can be picked up for almost nothing compared to aftermarket stuff. Especially if you get them used from someone that already has aftermarket front a-arms for their 400

if you will do some reading on this site, yo will see the 400ex arms on a 300ex are not nearly as good of an idea as everybody thinks
