From everything I've heard 13t is the best. Everyone from woods riders, mxers, to dune riders have gone with the 13t.

I switched to the 13 and loved it. Loved it until I switched back to the 14! I want to gear up my 250R now. This doesn't make sense but it seems like it accelerates quicker with the 14 tooth. The top end is way better too. Now that I"m used to the higher first I love it.

14 tooth all the way!

I love my 13 in the trails. But I also hate it in 5 gear. Thinking of going back to the 14.

I have the HRC kit in mine with the stock gearing, and at first it was hard in the trails, but once your used to riding it like a 2 stroke it is no problem, this bike doesnt lug around, you gotta rev it,,,, a 15 may be a bit high for the trails though,, however, I am running 22 inch tires in the rear with no problem,,,

i run 18"s and a 15 on the front for MX and i love it. on the straight aways i always gain time, off the start get it 2nd off the gate and by the time you shift into 3rd it'll pull like crazy while everyone else is windin out there short powerbands and wasting time shifting while you're in the meat of the power and continue pulling. works for me. and can throw it in 3rd and run most of the track just work the clutch.

If you dont care care about a blistering top speed get the 13 tooth. If you want plenty of top end learn to ride with the 14 tooth. I race in the woods down here in Georgia and love the 13 but the HRC mods hit the rev limiter real quick.

Couldn't agree more....I dropped to a 13 when I first got the quad, switched back to stock 2 weeks later. 1st gear doesn't bother me at all anymore..

right now i am running a 13t and 18's for mx and i love it. when i first got my 450R i didn't really like the way it took off bc of the 14t so i changed it. well this spring i hope to get a 13:1 piston and an '04 crf cam and then i think i may go back to the 14t to get back some top speed, but for now the 13t works great.

I ran the 14t for a long time but got a wild hair up my arse to try the 13t. BLAH! I hated it! It was worthless to me for MX and the dunes, i took it off right away. It absolutely kills mid-range/top end power....caused the motor to sign off way before max power would be used. If you ride just XC trails, the 13t is going to be pretty nice but I wouldnt recommend it for anything else. With my motor mods also, the 13t made the quad want to wheelie out of corners even more so it had to go!

If you're going to run the stock tires on the rear or a similiar tires size, the 13t isnt a bad investment but if you're putting on some 18inch MX style rears....stay with the 14t.

I have got a 13 tooth and love it but I also run 22's and 23's which would prolly be about the same a 14 tooth with stock tire's

If 13 is too low and 14 is too high try changing the rear sprocket. Stock rear is 38 but if you go to a 36 or 37 it will give you more top end but not be as high as stock. I run a 13/38 and love it. It really helps in the tight woods but it might hurt me on the longer straights at the GNCC's.
