ok im about to put in a hi comp piston and bore my 400ex over but i dont know what to go with i was thinkin about goin to a JE 406 and a 10:1 comp but i dont wont to be workin on this thing all the time. will i be ight with a 10:1 comp with out a HD rod?

and will a 406 rev faster then a 416?

and is the JE a cast piston or forged?

the only difference between a 406 and 416 is 10cc, generally a bigger piston doesn't affect how quickly the engine will rev very much, if you stroked the motor it would rev as quickly.

I can't answer your rod question, but my 200R has 11:1 compression from the factory and it has been very reliable, even with a slightly worn out rod end.

Go 416 or 426

my 406 ran very similar to my 426. the 406 did seem to rev a bit higher. it could have been from the smaller piston or the cam i was running. i ran a stage 2 hotcam with the 406 and i currently run a TC mx grind cam. your stock rod will be fine. most of the 406 pistons are 10.6:1 and the 416's are 10.8:1 that i see. i wouldn't hesitate running either bore.

Hey TC426EX

Are you running a stock rod with 12:1 comp?

Thanks

This is how I look at it:
If you run a 406, you can get two top end rebuilds out of it
A 416, you'll get one.
A 426, you'll have to resleeve if you need to rebuild it again.

I built a 406 for a friend of mine, and it pulls hard.
