hey yall i jus rebuilt my 416ex and when its idling and i slap the throttle it cuts out sometimes. it even dies sometimes when i do that. my first thoughts were maybe timing was off but when i put the motor together i was sure that i had timing perfect. but if it all comes down to it i will check it. could it be jetting? if u have any idea wat it could be or anythin that could help me, let me kno.

thanks

My quad and my 85 200R both do something similar, sometimes if I just blip the throttle a little bit it will get a hicup and quit, this is from idle. Both motors are the same RFVC except the 200R has two 32mm carbs and the 400ex has 1 35.5mm, the 400ex is pretty much stock, no motor mods and the 200R has a slip-on pipe.

Is it cold?
If its cold, quads tend to do that; they dont have good response to when you give it gas, and they barley idle sometimes stall, just let it warm up, it it should work right..

how often do you ride at idle? as long your accelerator pump is working and the pilot/fuel screw are good, its normal. all 4 strokes will sometimes stall if you stab the throttle at idle. ride it, if it doesn't do it, don't worry about it.

My 200R doesn't have an accelerator pump so i'm not surprised that it does it, it seems to be normal, my quad doesn't do it nearly as bad but doesn't like to idle when its cold for sure, most hondas seem to be cold natured. I always let my motors warm up a good while at low rpm till I ride them.
