It takes energy to push exhaust gases through your muffler. Your engine only produces a certain amount of energy. If part of that energy is used to push exhaust gases, then you have less energy to put to the ground.

By removing the baffle, you are making it easier to push exhaust through it. This means you have more energy left over to put to the ground. However, the actual difference is NOT very much.

At the same time, by removing restrictions in your exhaust path, the engine can also pull air IN easier. The reasons aren't so easy to explain, but you get more air in.

If you get more air in, you need more fuel. If you DON'T get more fuel, your quad will run lean, which is very BAD. A lean condition will create excess heat, which could eventually burn your piston.

So, he's right. Plus, just removing the baffle is really ghetto.

all the reading do not read the same do to different sea levels . ur best bet is to take it in to ur local dealer and have them jet the proper way with a EGA. saves u time and head aces unless ur familiar with carburators.

i got a mechanic that used to work at donnel sons cycles for 15 years, if u guys have herd of that place. any way if something is wrong with my 250 it goes to him. he recently put a hole new back end on my 250, the shaft drive part. hit a rock and snapped off the drain bolt and all the oil leaked out and it pretty much locked up:grr:

but i think i might give the hole baffle thing a try thanks guys:)
