450r carb on 400

I just did a 416cc kit to my 400 and I recieved a free carb from a 450r. Would it make a difference on my bike or will it not work with it. :confused:

I asked GT THunder about this and laz said it's not an easy conversion and will not work all that well if you get it mounted up..

well yes it does fit. All you have to do is take off your intake and make the hole a little bigger with a dremel or sand it down. Then do the same with your intake boot ( the one that goes from the air box to the carb)

you only have to go big enough so that you can fit the carb in the hole. The carb clears the gas tank. it's tight but it clears. you have to cut a little piece of the big white plastic piece that goes under the tank to clear the choke if you want to use it.

I didn't try it yet cause I am only half way done my rebuild so I can't say how it work but I do know that the swap is very simple just takes like a hour to make it fit good. the carb is on the quad right now and it just looks mean :devil:

how does it work??
And what size jets did you use?? Cause mine is almost done and I just wanted to know where to start on the jetting.

just to let everybody know I finaly took it out and man those it ever work. The 450 carb made a big difference. and I don't know why GT thunder said it was a hard swap:confused: it only takes like a hour or two to fit it right. No big deal.

The only other thing you will have to do to make it work except make the holes bigger is to cut the gas line ( 450) a little sorter so it won't kink. and if you ride in the winter and need a chokeit will have to be modified cause in stock form it hits the fuel petcoke(sp) but If you don't need it I suggest you just take it off.

I used a 165 main and stock pilot jet in the 500ex.
