i have a pair of sand devil rear tires and dune tracker front tires..

it snowed about 6-7 inches here and i was all excited to go ride in the snow with my dune tires.. so i didnt bother putting on the front tires and i just left my razrs on there... but when i went in the snow i didnt even go anywhere.. i guess your supposed to "float" well i didnt float at all and i jsut got stuck.. my top speed came out at like 5mph.. anyone know what i did wrong?

How much air did you have in the tires?

Hmm... they worked ok for me. Maybe you were in too deep of snow.

I would guess in deep powder they would suck...but on a hard pack trail they would rip:devil:

Yeah I also got that problem last year, well it got somewhere but me being used to snowmobiling, it was pretty weak. I did notice in your quad in your sig, recon, from what I've seen if your front end is either pretty heavy, or if you have small front tires, your front end will just sink/plow into the snow, and you will get nowhere.-darren

i bet a pair of realators would kick some serious *** in the snow.

as for the paddles, i bet the stock tires or somethin would be better than those paddles on ur recon. i thought u had to have enough power to turn those paddles over or they wouldnt do much?

I went out on my R after about 7 inches of snow and it also was about the same snow conditions. Not powdery but thick, perfect for snow balls. I have Sand Skake II's and I was hooking up great!! I was really suprised how well I was hooking up compared to last year with Holeshots just digging a hole in the snow and burying myself. Maybe your quad is too front heavy like posted earlier because my light 250R was floating on top and hooking up like crazy!!!

The best rear tires I've found are the Maxxis SurTrac's. They hook up awesome. My cousin was on the 250X last week and was waxxing a 400ex with Realtors on. I've ran these tires in the snow for years. Plus they will last forever!

what size are your paddles? if thier too small id guess their just gona spin instead of grip.

I just got a set of Maxxis 4 Snow tires and they hook up good on my 300. It snowed at least 5" last week and It was almost keeping up with the snowmobile. Well almost. Anyway your quad should work fine. Try the stock tires, mud, or terrain specific like snow tires.:D

alot of the problem with running dune tires in the snow is the tires dig instead up pushing your forward in most cases. The rear of the quad just squats down. Try something alittle less aggressive. And if you can afford the 4snow tires are where its at. Much more floatation and less digging.

stock 400ex tires work great in the snow....another thing is if the snow is deep you might want to try and sit further back on the seat so your frontend will be outta the snow and aint digging in...then after you get going again you can sit regular

holeshots dont work wortha damn in snow...esp their mx line of tires...the holeshot xcr seem to do ok for my friend on his raptor...but even then hes still doing more spinning than a little bit

im going to remount my stock 400ex back tires so i can go in the snow this year

im going to also see how some kenda klaws will do in the snow
