Well i just got a 450r tonight with basically all the goodies, the guy was telling me with a sparks exhaust and a hrc cam he wouldnot trust running 93 octane and all hes ever run is vp red. I heard that alot of people were running 93 with even piston mods and not even running into any problems. What octane do you think I should be running?

ive never heard of anyone needing more than 93 for a cam mod, its the higher compression that needs the higher octane to cool the motor down, the R does not have the overheating problem

All you need is 93. The cam won't up the compression. High compression is why you have to run higher octane. High octane burns slower. The reason you have to use it is because with a high compression motor the lower octane fuel will cause pre-ignition because of the extra pressure. And you get detenation. You have absolutely nothing to worry about. Don't waste your money.

Well the original owner of the quad rode alot at rausch. I haven't done any races on the 450r because It was just bought two nights ago. The number on the quad is #151 and the original owner used to race a 250r I think for ecatv.
