450r octane

Well i just got a 450r tonight with basically all the goodies He was telling me with a sparks exhaust and a hrc cam he wouldnot trust running 93 octane. I heard that alot of people were running 93 with even piston mods and not even running into problems thanks for all imput.

With those mods, i dont see any problems running 93. In my 400ex, i have an 11:1 piston, and i run 93, and it runs just fine.

Yeah he runs vp red now and he says he never ran anything else and thats basically all he would trust in the motor. I heard on here several times people were running 93 without a problem so it would just help out to get alot of peoples advice.

Running 93 will be fine, you won't have any problems. Its when you jump up the compression is really when you need a higher octane!

what is the compression ratio in the motor. the compression ratio is what will normally have the most effect on what octane gas you need to use. if its 11:1 or under then you wont need anythin above 93 octane, you would just be wasting your money unless you just want to cough up the dough for race gas to help the engine run cooler, cause thats all the race gas will do for an engine that doesnt have the compression ratio to actually need the higher octane.

Its just stock compression what ever that is on a 450r which I'm 80% sure is under 11.1 compression.

i'm sure that the comp. is 10.5:1 so you will be fine with 93;)

all you need is 93...

Yeah, 93 is fine, you can run pump gas with a 12:1 piston as well...many companies are selling this piston, like Sparks for example.
