Anyone know what is in the Sparks big core kit? Also does anyone have pics of it or know where I can find pics? 85 bucks seems like a lot when I could take screen and rap it around a piece of tubing and make one myself that is a 1/4

Someone that races for them was just sent a new pipe and motor and his did not have one. I was told if it was anything big he would definately have sent him one.

I was told by DASA that the Sparks big core is about a 2 hp gain by just switching the core, and the guy who owns DASA doesnt really like Sparks.

If you hane a modified engine, cam, exhaust, hi-comp piston, I think it is worth $85 for big core. I noticed more power. I've spent alot more and got alot less power. With big-core, you get new bigger core with bigger outlet that doesn't curve down as much along with new packing and 3 rivots.

Did you guys order it from Sparks directly? Also, anyway we could see some pictures of your exhaust now Benwa450r?? I'd like to see what it looks like, hell...if it looks pretty sweet, I'll buy it. I hate how the Sparks TRX400EX/450R pipes dump off. The CRF Sparks exhaust just has the "straight-cut" end cap and looks sooo much better. I also have a built motor and if you say you're making more power, I'd probably give it a shot!

Im just going to make my own. Sounds super easy, I have all the stuff to do it. Bend a new piece around a piece of tubing tack it together, cut off the end cap so it goes straight out, already have pop rivets. 30 minutes and viola...R3 Concepts Big Core.

Hey guys, while its not on a 450r i did just get one of the big cores for my yzf, it measures 2 1/4 inches inside, i think the standard core is 1 7/8 inches. I am coming from a TC exhaust so this feels like a rocket up in the high RPMs. dunno how to post pics other than linking to imagestation

I took mine apart tonight and dont see where you would gain much if any from this new bigger core. But I did cut the sweep off the end cap so it goes straight out now. Also these guys wanted to see pics of the core inside not just the outside of the can, they all look like that one.

all i can think of is that it evacuates more exhaust gases at higher rpms. look at the core on Farr's TT pipe. That thing is like three inches. It has to be that big for some reason.

TT it might be useful with the Sparks x4 cam since its a TT cam. The bigger core will take away bottom end, since it will loose any kind of back pressure but all hell will break loose on top end. But 85 bucks worth?????

Yeah I think you're right. All hell does break loose up top:blah:

Did you lose much on the low to mid??
Is the rest of your motor stock?

Well i cant really say i lost bottom end because i had a TC before and everyone knows what torque monsters those are. I definatly lost torque compared to that pipe but this suits my riding alot better. when comparing a sparks standard core to this one i bet it simply has more upper range rev to it. and yes my motor is all stock.

Ok cool well I think I will go ahead and order the pipe. I was told the pipe with the big core was LOUDER. Did not say how much louder but only that it is louder.

That is what i was wondering too, how much louder is it, since the stock X6 is a tid loud, not bad. But if i can see another 2HP with a cam, big core pipe, that'd be nice.

I cant see 2 more hp falling out of the core. Your only going to get it as big as the mid pipe will allow and that is 2 1/8 becuase if wont stay on the stainless part well if its any bigger. So we are talking 1/8 inch here all the way through the core, which is all of 10 inches. Which means that you could 1) shorten the can and have the same sort of affect, or 2) weld up some of the holes in the core, thus making it louder and making the flow better due to lack of holes that would allow air to the packing inorder to muffle the sound.

Wimmer said that the difference between the big core sparks and TC on bottom end is barely even noticable....he said he likes the big core sparks more.
