OK, according to the gearing calculator with 20 inch rear tires a 15 tooth front sprocket and a 30 tooth rear the 450r should be good for 102 mph, with 22 inch tires 112 mph... But do you think the motor could actually pull this off,,, this is at 9000 rpm, which is lower than the actual rev limit,,,,, my bike has the hrc kit but other than that the bike is pretty stock,,,, and before everyone starts bashing top speed questions, this is cause in the summer I ride woods and will be flattracking this summer but in the winter the lake behind my hose freezes and its all about top speed. So I want to get the most speed with just gearing and tire changes so that I may easily switch back come springtime,,,, Please just give me some honest opinions and any real world expierince anyone has in making there quad faster on top... thanks

OK, scratch that apearantly the highest gearin I can get is 16 front 36 rear,, for a top speed of 100.2 with 22 rear tires.. do you think the motor could pull this?,,,,,,, also, were talking about 1/2 mile of room to accelerate,, we get studded snowmobiles up over 100 no problem,

It will prolly not accelerate fast enough to get it to 100 in half a mile. Maybe 2 or three miles.

Yea, thats what I am worried about, I just am not so sure the motor could pull this gearing in that space,,,,, thanks for the reply

Here is a graph of a stock 450r top speed run. With the mods you have, a gear change may get you close to 80mph and if you also do 22in you may see 90mph.

In testing Eichner has pulled 100mph on pavement with his 450r, and 94MPH in a sandwash with their Desert Gearing and 22 inch tires.....

I bought one of the bieks that goes that fast, and it definitely takes a long time to get up to 95 or so.....a good 2 miles.....

we were going fast enough that the tires were expanding enough to hit the heel guards.....

on mine its a HRC cam,CRF450 carb(modded by John Gregory at GWC),K&N,Fat Boy 4, and 15/36 gearing..with 22 inch tires.....

The carb definitely makes a big difference power wise to me...

i dont think you can get a 30 tooth rear sprocket

Sled, as you can see in my second post I did learn that you cant get a 30 rear, but thanks for the input,,,,, I would love to put nitrous on it just for the winter but I don't think the traction would be good enough unless I fully studded some rear flattrack tires, is there any kit available??? ,,,,,,,, Anyway, I have been hard at work on my quad the past couple days regreasing all the suspension bearings and bushings,, finally took the pivot bolt out, thank god,,, one more season and it probably would have been frozen.
Anyway, I have 22" rear tires on it now but plan on studding my worn out original 20's,, anyone have a good guess on the best gearing to go with for the most top speed in about a 1/2 mile,,,, Thats my concern, obviosly I am not gonna hit 100 like I wanted to, but what do you guys think I can do???

well about your top speed.... i don't think its poss on ice.

for one you have a traction issue. if you solve that problem with ice studs you add rotating mass to the tires. this is a very large hp drawback.
