i was wondering what u guys think. if, money is no problem, what motor would u guys put in a quad frame? a crf450 or a yz426? and also would it be worth it to put one of these motors in a 400ex frame? i know the price for one of these motors is pretty high, but the cost of modifications to the 400 motor just to get the same power is also high. what do u guys think?

That is kinda tough, but I think I would go with the CRF powerplant. Can you buy the motor by itself?

I'd go w/ the yz 426 becasue if you ever get serious about racing i believe that this is right around the size limit while the 450 i think you hade to down stroke it a litttle bit. Just my $.02 though

yes, ive seen the crf motor for sale by itself. my local honda dealer had one. the price was high though. $4,000. ouch, but that might be what u have to pay to get one.

I would get the yzf becouse it needs no mods. They say that honda detuned the crf alittle so it would be easier to ride.

I would go with the crf it has a better powerplant and better more controlable power.

i would go with niether, i would try a xr650r motor. it has around the same power but is not as stressed as either of the two mentioned. it is also proven to be reliable.

crf for shure, the yz is too hard to get started after a stall. To de-stroke it pretty cheep.

would it be better to de-stroke one or make the bore a little smaller(if possible)?
