I was wondering how to change the oil in a 2000 400ex and also what kind of oil is best to run in it?

take dipstick out
unscrew drain underneath oil tank
take off oil filter cover
once it's all drain-
put drain underneath oil take back in
take out old oil filter
put new one in (make sure to put it in right)
put cover back on
fill 'er back up with- honda gn4, hp4, or mobil 1 red cap
put dipstick back in

holds just under 2 quarts. i accidentally slop a little around when im trying to pour it in the tank to i just put both quarts in.

yea, you gotta love the ease of pouring the oil in the tank. Its kinda cramped. Best fo have a funnel with a neck on it. Otherwise oil ends up everwhere.

or a rubber hose on the end, i found the coolest funnel at bi-mart the other day, its a regular funnel with about a foot long hose on the end, works great to fill the old 400 up!

i just use the $3 ones from the stealership. just ask for one for a 400ex.

i don't see the point in buying an expensive oil filter when i change my oil every 2-3 outings.
