Today i had a buddie come over w/ 400ex all stock with rear klaws on and baffel out and its jetted a lil rich and he gets me in the long wrong like 400 feet I got a hetrick full pipe Jetted correct piston stockbore bald 22 tires and soon as i hit 4th gear ge passes me If i would go down a rear sproket or front wheel it help me get me threw the gears faster?

id say the tires are what seems to be the issue on a short drag race like that.

or could it be the pipe just doesnt do that much to the stock engine? lol:scary: or maybe the bald tires are breakin loose and he just rolls on past ya...lol

How old is your 400 and how old is his 400?? The piston wear (compression) can make a big difference. Also what size of sprocket are you running? I've noticed that 22" tires can get pretty heavy, and that robs alot of power.

mines a 00 and my piston is bout a a year old. His is a 03 and My tires do break lose in the start and thank you for the fast reply's!!:) I was thinking going down one sproket I beat him from 2-3 then im widning out 3rd and i shift into 4th and hes already in 4th passing me i got a whole of low end and my qaud runs like a raped animal from 1-3 4th gear is not to good then i shift into 5th and its like a 2 stroke it keeps pulling :confused: maybe my qaud got some spell on it :blah: but i don't know much bout im going but a 11:1 je piston or ross i will run no base gasket like hondabond or something or permatex i think it is? & like a one or 2 layer head gasket Thanks!

what jetting you running??

i would put a 14 tooth front sprocket on and see how it runs. also, make sure your throttle cable only has around 1/8-1/4 inch of slack in it. if there is more, you will be hurting the power. i have a 14 tooth for sale if interested

its your tires, i had 22's on my ex and had the same problem, i changed to 20's and it was a big difference in the top end
