Is the only differnce in the regular Douglas .190 front rims and the Douglas Ultimate front rims the rolled edge? And if so would regular .190s work just fine for MX and jumpin and stuff? I got Douglas Ultimate Beadlocks on tha rear.

I run the plain jane 190's up front and they've held up great,,I did put a small flat spots on one of them but only because I landed a jump right on a rock,,they'll work just fine man..

Thanks, glad to hear that cause I just ordered them with some 20" holeshots.

Good choice with the 20's over the 19's..;)

Sounds good. If you look at tim farrs yamaha he is like the only pro without the rolled edge i dont think i have seen many pics with the rolled edge when he is racing.

Yeah I think the .190 Rims will hold up just Fine. NACS is right, Tim Farr doesn`t have Rolled Lips on most of his Front Rims. He has all kinds of Rims though. I think he changes from Track to Track.

YA with the right suspension most rims will last a while.

Yes I would Agree. What kind of Shocks do you have? If you have Good Shocks the Rims should be Fine. Now I did notice at Red Bud most of the Pro`s had Rolled Edges or Beadlocks.

Ya most do probly just for safty but with those shocks and pro style landings it will be easy on the rims. beadlocks are more so you can take it harder in the corners.

Adams44 told me that the Race Rims would be the Best for the Money. He also said that Beadlocks are mostly for when you go through Corners to keep the Tire on the Bead. They are not really for Strength.

Tim Farr does not race with .190 front wheels. In the latest 4wheel action the quad was set up just for a photo shot. How can you guys not remember him running those gold anoidied billed douglas front rims?

I just looked on Baldwins Site and I think those are .190`s on his CRF440 on the Home Page. What do you think?

The 190's are good wheels. I just bought a set of 4+1 ultimate wheels and I am pretty impressed with how beefy they are. I wouldn't have spent the other $100 for the ultimate if they made the 190's in the 4+1 offest though. I'm using stock wheels for mx and the ultimates for woods riding since it will take some width off the front end. I have to wait for my a-arms to see how much of difference though.:p

Warriorman, if your talking to me, no pictures yet. I'm waiting on the Houser stuff to come in and then put my bike back together all at once. I have an hrc cam and high compression stock bore piston coming also. I just wish it wasn't taking so long to get everything but when I talked to (I believe it was Jeff) someone at the Quadshop yesterday he said it was racing season and that's what happens.:p

Sounds nice smoker.
The rings are just for strength i dont think rico bent his yet and he has bent ac propegs and and axle so they should be good for jumping.

Still saving for a suspension setup, I just got the regular .190s on tha front cause I didn't have much money to spend since I got the beadlocks on tha rear. I wanted to keep tha stock stuff all together so I'd have a extra set just to throw on there. If ya'll think that the ultimates are allot better I'll save up for em, I'll see how these will do first. If I do get some ultimates up front I might get em with a set of grooved radials or something in the future.

CrowDog, The Race Rims are .190 Rims with the Rings around them. Rico has those on the Rear of his 400. He said something about getting them for the Front too.

Smoker, Your Quad sounds Sweet. What do you Race? I can`t Wait to see some Pictures. I hate how a lot of the Chassis Builders are backed up. They need to Hire more People.

Ya the front would help some for big jumps but dont need them that bad. The frame builers suck lol. Alot of them are good honest people that want to make them by hand for top quality.

Whats the best in the rear? Champion beadlocks? Are ultimate beadlocks just as good? I heard ultamates are only .160

.190 are pretty decent rims. But they will not last forever. If your doing big jumps they will adventually flat spot, so you better run alot of air in the front tires. Stock honda rims are stronger than .190s so don't go and sell your stock rims to buy .190s.

I bought .190 rims for my R, but only because my stock ones were bent to he11.

I would say the Champion, OMF, or Douglas Billet are the Best Rear Beadlocks.

Honda Guy

When you say douglas billets you are talking about untimates right? I if there .160 and dont have rings I was wondering if they can be as storng as they say they are.

Dave400ex
04-20-2002, 04:50 PM
Yeah they are the Douglas Ultimates with Billet Center. I`m not sure if they are .190 or not. You will have to Ask Jeff to Find out for Sure. I would get the Champion or OMF because of the Inner Ring.

Foxrage

The douglas ultimate do not have rings on the inside which can cause flat spots. You can get champion with the ring that are really strong. You can only get the ultimates in 160 but are stronger in some places for the billet ones.

Can anyone else confirm this?

Dave400ex

Yes that is True because of the Rolled Lip on the Stock Rims.

I agree with Warriorman, the stockers are hard to beat on durability. The ultimate wheels are close to the stockers in build and the reinforced seem to hold up great. The carbon fiber have to be great too, they are designed to flex instead of bend or break. The plain 190's are good choice for spare rims but I've seen them mangled pretty good before. :p

Yeah if you want to get Stronger Rims then Stock then you will have to get the Race Rims or Beadlocks. The Stock Rims hold up Great. I have a lot of Dings on mine, but nothing really that Stands out. I would keep the Stockers or get Race Rims or Beadlocks.
