Does anyone run a spacer plate and 86 piston? Did you feel a performance change? I'm debating on if I should do this to my 1989 cylinder.

I do, they say it creates more crank case volume and more air/fuel and the power is smother. I do know one thing for sure the cylinder is harder to get in a atc frame with the spacer plate. When I redid my motor I used a 88/89 rod, had a cylinder ported, new reeds, tuned my 38 a's better, so just the spacer plate, I couldn't tell you. Also got a esr atc-5 pipe, verses a fmf and a the stock head was cut.

Anyone else with a 87-89 use the spacer plate?

Having my motor redone now with 89 crank and 86 piston so I will use a spacer plate. I will let you know in about a month when I get my bike done. I have a question about the head stay with a spacer plate, do you guys still run it? If so will I have to elongate the hole to bolt up to the head? If not running it will it vibrate much more?

As I remember it fit on my atc with the spacer plate, when before I got a cr igniotion and had to use one of the holes to mount the coil. I never had a spacer plate on my trx250r, its only 5mm, don't see why it wouldn't

Sean, I'm having my engine rebuilt in about a month. Let me know if you think the spacer plate is worth it as soon as you get your motor back. Good question about the head stay...I think elongating the hole is about your only bet.
