well i got it!

went to the local dealer and picked up an 04 400ex. got it for 4823, and financing 2823.

granted i couldve gotten something used for 1200 less, but oh well this is sort of a begining quad being that i havent actively ridden in 2-3 years and i want it to be very reliable.

plus im gonna get a dirtbike in the future for racing, so this makes a fun toy until i start making good money

also the wait was freakin rediculous. being that its the 26th, the parking lot was full and people were walking in and out with dirtbikes like it was free dirtbike day. was also fun to be getting looks from some hotties, even though i looked like crap(got up, went to buy it 20min later) waited 45min just for them to prep the bike. and then the big loading ramp they use made a gash in my trucks paint :eek2: as the salesmen put the fold down part down before i backed my tailgate into place. also the guy drove over my fender well(i just about passed a stone when that happened)

did i mention im a freak with my truck? i treat it like its a high end ferrari

so far ive ridden it for a total of 2 minutes, and love it

Did you kill them after they scratched your truck ? I hate it when ppl are careless of other ppls things! Im the same with my truck. I want my dads sticker thing that says "Is there life after death? mess with my truck and you'll find out"

Prices vary widely from state to state. Here you can buy an '04 400ex for 5200 + set up, freight, titling, registration, tax..... they are asses here....

you think thats bad, i got quoted at 6100 at the same dealer i bought it from a week or 2 earlier for the exact same bike thats in my garage now

dealers here dont see it as "the outdated quad no one really wants to pay a standard price for" they see it as a performance 400 that they can claim will hold its own with anything

now i gotta go get some gear, or at the very least a helmet so i can do some riding next week

no, but i almost wanted to drive an hour back and beat him with a helmet after we unloaded the quad. there was that yellow paint/cleaner dripping and dried all or my bed :eek2:

and i could have gotten used but me and my dad were edgy spending this much on a toy that im probably just gonna beat on for awhile. and you can never really tell how badly someone run the piss out of the bike. plus i have a permenant 10% discount at the dealer. i got this little card for one purchase, but if i talk to the salesmen we bought ours from, he'll get me another card everytime i come in :D

as for my original intentions of racing, im just gonna toy aound and maybe pickup a 250F next year or so.

i like 4823 as a price, afterall i was gonna spend more then that for a raptor 350 after the 6 months of waiting to get my extra credit.

i got a price of 5K exactly, cause they had to ship it from seattle or somewhere. got it on a firday, went to go get it. then the dealer starts rambling on about using a clutch and sh*t, i tell him ive rode my friends predator so i know how to use a clutch, so hes like "oh...ok, ill go put it in". so my dad backs the truck in and the dealer sets up the ramps. heres the funny part. he lines it up, puts it in 1st, and cant get it into the truck, it kept dieng when he was on the ramps. so after about 5 times he finally gets it. he said he doesnt ride sport quads alot, but stil lol

I was in the shop by my house Friday getting some parts and the guy told me he could sell me a new'04 400EX for $4300.

on 400ex's being reliable that is so right. Other than normal maintance or aftermarket parts I havn't had any problems w/ them.

99TRD- you sure that wasnt starting? mine was 4399 starting

if i had bought one 2 years ago i wouldve paid about 3600otd or so. after the Z400 came out and it got nothing but praise that same dealer dropped all of of their 400exs to like 3600otd....then it occured to them that a drop like that was just wasting money.

funny that guy had trouble. ive never driven a quad with a clutch until now and i drove mine right up and parked it.
