I was originaly looking for a z/kfx but found a great deal on a 400ex around where I live. I was wondering if a 400ex would still be competitive on the trails or on the track. Thanks

Alright thanks, thats what I thought but reading some other stuff it made it sound like it wouldn't be.. I found one around me that the guys says he has $7500 invested and hes selling it for $2700. Does that sound like a good price?

Sounds like a good deal to me.I liked my 400EX ,but after I got it,I started lookin more at the Z's.I then sold the EX and got a Z,and have no regrets. If you aint worried about reverse, then get the EX.All my friends still have a EX,and there aint a whole lot of difference between em.Plus you cant beat the reliability of a honda.Hope this helped a little.

Thanks O yes they are competitive. This Saturday I entered a 100 mile xc race on my 400ex, basically stock cept for front elkas, and a 426 kit. It was a team race, b class, everyone else had 2 people on their team, and expensive decked 450's or kawasakis. I raced alone and won my class. Quad doesnt matter so much in a race.
