but does the light dim? If you dont hear a clicking its not the starter, its either a bad ground/wire, or a bad solenoid.

Its not the black box, its either the battery, a connection, or the solenoid, easy stuff, take it to the shop, it shouldnt be much.

Well you actually will need a battery tester to check it. Usually a bad connection will let enough current through to light a test light.

If u have a light turn it on and put it on the higher setting and try and turn it over, if the lights dim it is a bad battery. If nothing happens then u need a new starter. - Hope this helps

yeah if nothing happens check your starters connection and follow it all the way back to the battery.

if NOTHING happens no lights dem nothing... then its the solenoid. if youre hearing a clicking noise when you push the start button then it could still be the solenoid but could also be the starter. its DEFFINITELY not the cdi it has nothing to do with starting

the solenoid has 2 brass bolts and a plunger with a disk on the top of it and a spring to hold it up. a magnetic field is created when the start button is pressed and it pulls the plunger down and makes the disk touch the brass bolts creating a complete circut letting power go to the starter, spinning it and starting the engine

the starter works pretty much the same only the solenoid has 2 functions on a starter. getting power to the windings in the starter motor and causing a leaver to mesh the starter gear into the gears on the flywheel. the solenoid on the starter works the same as the one described above.

NOW, to check them....take them both off (the solenoid and starter) and hook a battery or a jumper box or something to them. there should be a P, +, or pos for the positive and either a S or nothing for the side that goes to the starter. hook the cables to the appripriate side and if solenoid clicks then its good. do the same thing on the starter solenoid. if they both make click and the starter spins then you have a wireing problem. if the solenoid doesnt click get a new one, or if you can take it appart pull the brass bolts out and spin them 180 degrees and put it all back together and that should fix it. the same can be done with the starter if it doesnt click.

hoped that helped you some bro, later
